#AskZBrush: Updated January 29, 2021

AskZBrush

Pixologic is pleased to bring you the #AskZBrush system – an exciting way to get answers to your questions about ZBrush features.

More than 410 questions answered, and climbing!

Using Twitter, simply ask your question with the hashtag #AskZBrush. Our experts @Pixologic will review the question and where practical follow up with a short video containing the answer.

The #AskZBrush system is set up to provide answers to questions that would generate 3-10 minute videos. Our specialists won’t answer broad training or tutorial-type questions such as, “How do I sculpt a full character?” Rather they will focus on specific questions like, “How can I sculpt on thin pieces of geometry?” or “How can I display reference images with SpotLight?

Keeping the question simple and specific will increase the odds of your question being answered!

We now have five playlists:

  • The top one is for #AskZBrush Vol.5, which will contain all videos created after the release of ZBrush 2020.
  • Below that is Vol.4 with the videos for ZBrush 2019.
  • Below that is Vol.3 with the videos for ZBrush 2018.
  • Below that is Vol.2 with the videos for ZBrush 4R8.
  • The bottom playlist is the archive of the original videos, with 200 informative answers.

Here is the playlist from #AskZBrush Vol.5!

Awesome as always. ZBrush and the Pixologic Team are just so intuative! Also for the community. Thanks for support all artists who want to learn zbrush aswell who already uses zbrush for a long time! You guys rock and roll! If you dont know - YOU ASK! That how you do!
Happy zbrushin’

#AskZBrush :+1:small_orange_diamond:)

This will be useful for everyone. There are so many things in ZBrush that get overlooked due to the approach and methods I have become comfortable with. ZBrush has so many features and functions that, unless your job is to dissect the program, you’ll never touch on every aspect.

Huge Thanks for this!!!

Great initiative, as a beginner user really thank you :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Never seen this level of support, I’m shocked :o

Thank you.

Thank you… after 7/8 years of training myself in ZBrush I tend to love these, as even though I may know how to do many of these, there is always something new I learn, even if its just different route our a button or quick key I pick up…

While learning ZBrush and you don’t learning something new per day, consider that day wasted… so keep them coming… and I hope Keyshot follows suite…

Brilliant!

Thank you so much Pixologic Team.
This is an amazing way of helping ZBrushers all over the world.
I admire this remarkable and beautiful initiative work.
Wish you all the best and success in future too.
Regards,
Nilupul

fantastic as always!

This is Support Next-Gen!
Great initiative, thank you Pixologic team!

Ah, this is the first practical reason that I’ve heard of for using twitter!

As usual Pixo, you guys go above and beyond.
I especially love watching a video about a specific topic but also learning an unrelated better technique to replace something I’ve been doing for years.
Never fails.

What a nice idea! I love you love you love you Pixo guys for these gifts to your fans!

I’m finally not-a-ZB-noob, into possibly the 14th edition of custom UI and having lots of fun with ZBrush - yet am still discovering cool gems I didn’t know exist!!!

Mwak mwak mwakkkk keep up the good spirit!

I’m loving these videos Joseph, great information!

Something else that may help people mask off areas like you are doing at the 4:00 mark of the “Surface Noise Patterns” video is to use the Mask Convex brush, or just adjust the depth values using the Brush > Depth > Depth Mask button.

Here is a video showing the difference between the default masking brush and the same brush with modified depth settings, which is essentially the convex masking brush.

Keep up the good work Joseph!

@–E--: Yes that is an excellent workflow and huge timesaver! Thanks for linking the video Eric!

These are great. All the simple things that are not simple if you don’t know about them. Keep the tips coming. Can’t wait to see more.

Excellent use of technology and resourses :+1:

Can we post questions here or do they have to be on the Twitter feed?

Please send your questions through Twitter. We receive a large amount of questions, but most of them are not really related to “AskZBrush”. Then it is easier to reply to them on Twitter (we do our best to reply to most of them).

If you don’t user Twitter or have a question that doesn’t fit the #AskZBrush format, please post in the ZBrush Help & Support category here at ZBC.

“Ask ZBrush” is a really, really great idea.
Thanks a lot for the videos, they are really good for learning new things, for refreshing what i know, and for realizing that there are things that i didn’t know as well as i thought :+1:
