Hi guys,
These guys were done for a Dutch TV-Commercial, set in a next-gen type game environment. I joined the team as a freelancer and supervised the creative development for the creatures in this project. I worked on the Designs, Models, Textures and Facial Blendshapes. Most of the work on the armor and all the environmental and animation work was done by the talented folks over at HecticElectric, Amsterdam. The commercial is directed by Minivegas, London. Allthough the time given for the project was insanely short, it was fun to do. Both creatures were designed, modeled and textured within about 3,5 weeks... something completely different, stylistically and timewise, for sure! Both models share about the same body basemeshes, zbrush was used to create two completely different looking creatures. Modelling, detailing, texturing, facial blendshapes and displacement map generation was all done through Zbrush. Wow! The first one freaks me out, but the ogre is brilliant - and a lot of expression in those blendshapes! The render on the ogre is very nice too!
Oh I just watched the animation too and fell about laughing! haha Thanks for showing! Jon Last edited by jonsb01 : 09-30-08 at 04:39 AM. |

Hi Jelmer,
this is some cool work. Especially the first character looks quite menacing. I also like those different facial expressions below. Got my stars

I'm curious, did you make different facial displacement maps for each facial extreme pose or did you just stick with one?

Hey Jelmer
The images alone were enough for me but to see it all in action was great! Very cool character designs and execution. |
