sorry for posting this same pic 1000 times. this is the last for him by himself, I promise! I fixed some things though... enlarged the arms, used perspective, and actually rendered the eyes with zbrush! I'm learning so much... |

Well i would say great work. But i noticed one thing in your last render. In the background, the flag shows quite a lot of filled light(bounced light) so the viewer can easily precieve that its a daylight(sunlight) environment, but it stands opposite for foreground(the character). The light is a little overexposed and rightly so because it does!, in sunlight. but the shadows are quite dark(less bounced light, environment light). so it kinda suggesting that the character is standing below a hard light or spot light kind of emitter. so that's what i felt. hope it helps!.

Thank you everybody for your compliments! Azeem, thank you for the tip about the light. I realized when I first started this project that it wasn't going to look like a V-Ray or Mental Ray pic because I only use zbrush. I had to composite EVERYTHING in photoshop, which is not uncommon here, but I did want to give a sense of depth and placement between the character and the flag since I rendered them seperately. I did give him a stronger underneath ground-reflected light at first but it just blended the character with the background...
But like my thread title says, "I'm pretty new to zbrush(in 3d modeling all around actually...)" but I'm continuing to learn from you guys, so thank you very much! Eiad, the patterns on the suit came from tileable alphas with a high tile count drag-painted onto his body, erased(or colored white back over) the parts I didn't want the pattern applied to, masked by intensity, then just slightly inflated. the stitches were done with a few stitch brushes I got from a member here, but do not remember who..(I'm sorry!!). as for the flag, it's just a flattened, lengthened polycube with wrinkles sculpted onto it with a flag image I found on google as the texture! Thanks again you guys! now off to red skull, of course I have some competition from bladeflush! |

okay, an update on red skull. I totally re-did him, using cap's head and re-sculpting for this.

weah, love the rende, but i feel the eyes are to white, would use some red veins on the sides, and maybe add an ao pass top the texture ;f

Hey man, it's Ben. I like Red-Skull, 'tis awesome but I have a few ideas on him. How you described the reasoning behind his current look it was like the skin of his face shrunk. I like how you did it but I imagine it would look slightly more gruesome if you could see the remnants of his lips and perhaps a few places where the taut skin stretched and perhaps ripped a bit over his skull. Also you may want to pull his gums back over his teeth a bit more. This might not be what you're going for but I think it would look cool. Also, I have never used Zbrush so I don't know how long that would take you. Until then, I'll see you later!
