    Default Brasen's Sketchbook

    Hey guy's.

welcome to my new sketchbook. I'm making this so i can keep pushing myself.
I'm aiming to sculpt everyday, pretty nervous here with all the amazing talent

Posting up some work Ive been doing recently and going to keep this updated on a regular basis. enjoy

This was bassed off an Arenanet concept art that i thought i would do for practise, still a few more details to add.

Quick concept sketches for my own characters that i wanted to turn into game art pieces.

This is the highpoly zbrush model

    zbrush_base_SS_23.JPG

And this is the lowpoly version with normal map

    rendersetup_02.jpeg

Heres a progress shot of creating the lowpoly version in topogun, this is my first lowpoly character ive ever made so there was allot of learning

    Leg_wrinkle_topo_02JPG.JPG

bored 1 day so and wanted to create an orc based off LOTR, did super quick polypaint, I want to turn this into a finished piece.

    orc_07.JPG

This is just testing skin shader so want to put better textures on later
    orc_skin_web.JPG

This is another lowpoly character i built for a school project called Purple Justice! this is the lowpoly character

    render_04.jpeg

    and heres the zbrush screenshot

    2legwalker_05.JPG

and finally here is a Mountain Banshee from avatar, such an amazing film.
its in the very beginning block in stages heaps to do obviously. anatomy is probably pretty bad in some areas ive never really studied birds much.

    base_banshee_03.JPG

thanks for looking if anyone has questions about anything ask away, i could upload different shots if you guys wanted.
Thanks to Undoz for the awesome matcaps and basemeshes there awesome
Allot more to come in future!

I have a Tutorial up on my website with the making of the Arena net character so go check that out, didn't want to post in here because the image size is pretty massive but i will post it up if any one is interested.
    cheers.

About the low poly character, it`s a great start no doubt about it, but there`s still a lot of room for improvement, in low poly art there`s no need to follow every wrinkle or musle, you have a lot of unnecesary geometry, just need topology in places where there`s going to be strong deformations. I`ll leave you this link to a great low poly work that illustrates my point, hope it helps, just check the comments below, you`ll find a post with the wireframe cheers.

EDIT: now that i looked closer to your progres image...may be i was mistaken and you were editing the high poly basemesh to get the low poly XD I`ll leave the link and comment just in case

f roldan - Ahyes ive seen that post before, such an awesome model, thanks for pointing out that theres too many polys on the legs but it was intentional, i know i could make it allot lower but i was doing a test to see how much form i could get and still keep it quite low, in the arms i made it lower, but i guess i was aiming for medium ish res. For the pollycount i dont think the sillouete makes a huge difference in quality so its something i will look out for in future. I will probably go over and re do that whole lowpoly again soon.

Slice - Thanks! and no I'm not, what makes you say that? I'm Aussie
    sintraceur - Thanks

Heres some more wireframe shots if your interested

Whaasuupp guys!, merry Xmas and happy new years, hope you all are having good holiday. I've been a bit slack but starting to pick it up again.

So here is an update on my orc head been hand painting some texture maps and playing with lighting and shader settings, let me know what you guys think.. im not too familiar with the sss shader or light rigs, the render times are around 10min which seems pretty long to me for just trying to do tests. this is just a diffuse map and a normal map plugged into the basemesh smoothed.. later on im going to do a displacement and maybe paint allot more indepth textures for the different layers, but id love to hear your opinions.

    Enjoy.

Hey every one, heres some new projects I been working on lately
First is from an art test.

The 2nd character is from dom war V but decided the art test was abit more important, I will pick her up later and do some more work.

Lastly is a Graulan warrior concepted by Carlos Haunte. He posted up a video of him doing it on an Ipad and I really liked the design.. and I have been meaning to do 1 of his designs for a while now and it is so much fun

I started him from scratch with Zsphere and just a couple of hours work, basic block in. Was also meaning to post up a video of me doing the sculpt but zbrush crashed when saving it so sorry guys Next time I will do a straight screen recording I think.
Enjoy and have fun peace out.

Try to look at some anatomy. That would really help your models.
And the models you've posed, try making it more dynamic, they look stiff.

    Interesting concepts

MjTheHunter: yeah there only really quickly posed, thought it would be better than just straight t-pose ;p there still very wip. Could you also mention what parts of anatomy to work on? thanks!

slocik: Thank you, yeah I get bored to easily and so much to learn always learning and improving, will be a lifetime goal I think. Gonna start a new goal that everytime I reply I will have an update on my model.

feel free to c&c my next step is to do a retopo to make the polys more manageable, theres some funky areas especialy around the groin.

This is the concept i'm working off done by Carlos Haunte
