It occurred to me that I hadn't done any vambraces yet, not shoes or gauntlets. here's the Vambrace and elbow guards, that I concept 'd and re-topo'd all in a days work. Gauntlets and Booties incoming.

My entry for the FFXIV gear design contest.

Crystals being a major part of FinalFantasy lore, I thought a big chunk of Aetheryte would be suitable. within the large crystal is a swirling vortex pattern, representing Gaia all the swirls represent the flow of life and the leaf shapes that hold the crystal in place represent Yggrasil the tree of life. anything to make FFXIV resemble FinalFantasy again ^^

Default Great feed back :P I'm just gonna keep posting ^^

The Latest installment of my Hard surface Armor WIP. also a MATCAP I made as part of the study.
Concepting the Helmet right now, I'm a little unsure of some aspects, so I would like any one's opinion on if you think the Helmet suits the armor, before I go ahead and finish it off.

    ... thanks.

Let me start by saying the armor is fantastic! I really like it. Good stylized likeness of Adrian Brody as well. The armor isn't for him, is it? It looks like armor for a female warrior, to me. Maybe not, but that was my first impression. As for the helmet, honestly it's cool, but does not seem to fit the style of the armor. It seems large and round, not angular, sleek and sexy like the suit. If the suit is indeed for a female, I don't think the helmet would suit her (no pun intended). Or, maybe it's just the angle and perspective of the suit with helmet attached. A downward camera angle with that perspective makes the head look large. Try a render with less perspective and maybe directly in front of the viewer with the figure turned at 3/4 view. Then maybe it will be easier to say.

Thanks Slosh! was surprised to finally see a comment on my thread :P haha glad that you were able to tell it was Adrien Brodie.
and yes you are correct, the Armour is for a Female "warrior" I suppose, I made a 'cartoon' girl character a while back, and then I decided for a hard surface study I'd make her some Armour. about the Helmet, I couldn't agree more. after I finished I thought yeah it's cool. then a few hours later I looked at it again, and could see how much it did not work for the Armour. I did a completely new Design that I think suits it a whole lot more. picking up some of the design elements of the Armour and hopefully being somewhat more sleek and sexy.

I think I'm mostly done for modeling parts now. Though I know I'll notice something new tomorrow that needs tweaking. but here it is for now. I think it's time to do some more sculpty sculpts. this one has taken a lot of my time. but it's been a great learning experience
