you know, this model is spectacular. but i just need to say, that i think the eye texture doesnt make sense to me. it makes a very serious looking character look like a cartoon. im not sure if its purpouseful, which is why i thought i should say something. im just saying this because i think this model is so good.

The grunge looks nice but the original was the best IMO because the grunge looks too normal. If you're going to grunge it up i would suggest putting him in a scenario first and think about what his past and present conditions have been instead of roughing him up in the "norm" scenarios. Not that doing so is a bad thing..but just think about what worlds he has been too...maybe have some "exotic stains-random alien blood" , groups he's joined up with (logo-tattoos on his suit), maybe a tally mark on his suit/gun somewhere of big monsters he's taken down. Details like that are going to make the character literally have more character and tell a story without words.

    Still, excellent work!!

    mjolnir-thanks, I'll change the eyes.

    darkdevinci-thanks

AVBN5000- thanks for the advice, I figure somewhere to add tally marks.

I've been slacking the past week, trying to get caught up in a couple of video games. I'm really addicted to nba2k11 and blaz blue. I changed the posture a little and added more detail like screws and logos. Since I'm focused again I plan on finishing my booty hunter

Oh, I failed to mention that I thought the eye looked pretty sweet. I thought the color scheme was actually pretty cool. I figured it was like a type of vision mode or something similar to how "predators" vison cycles work. I can understand though how that may be distracting if it were taken literally but if it changed its appearance, say with the environment the hunter was in...it could be a form of camouflage which actually wouldnt be a bad idea for various parts of his uniform to break up the silhouette and make him less identifiable from a distance. Just using the imagination. :-)

Hey guys here's another update. I decided to go with a more bold color scheme. I did a paintover of the my render to see where I might head next. I don't intend this to be the final view, still trying to find the perfect angle. Check it out and tell me what you think.

I like how you added in some more detail in the leg area. I liked it better with only one of the eyes textured in. It gave it a more interesting look. It seems too normal now and I liked the uniqueness of it better the way it was. The added symbols on the arm sleeves are nice but a bit too contrasty if he's hunting. You could spot those a mile away. One thing thats stuck out is the belt. Just a thought but what if you made it textured with the honeycomb style you have going?? I would test to see what that looked like...or even a camo style that would match some of the other colors. Also, what is the change on the back of his foot?? Any chance of seeing this model from another angle (colored)?

Another update, still have a couple more things to fix. don't pay attention to the bland neck brace, bland boxes, and stretched logo on shoulders. Keep you guys posted

Hey guys still not finished yet, but I put together a progress picture. I'm sitting here cracking up to myself over the early version of my hunter. I think it good to sit back and reflect on your work.
I used the burn tool on the green parts, to make the figure as a whole pop more. I plan on scratching the orange parts to give them more detail, make the hexagon pattern more cohesive throughout the model and I also need to figure out whats blowing the cloth material in the render. Still have a lot more stuff to do, I won't stop until I'm happy

I like elements from each..but i do think the one with more colors is way to much over the top to be a bounty hunter. However, this is still excellent work and if anything it's demonstrating where your mind is focusing on and what you still think needs improvement.

These 3 renders are almost 3 different types of hunters or level up style concept.

BTW, digging the bigger shells on his arm. Dunno if anyone noticed that.
Also, I really like the color/texture scheme in the 2nd one around the shins/feet area. That looks sharp, almost more classy looking. Dunno why but i think you could go with a few outfit styles not needing the be in the mindset of (oh this isnt right i need to fix that) instead maybe just different outfit schemes the character is suppose to wear.

Out of curiosity, what did you have in mind for what goes inside the square containers around his belt? Maybe create like logos for each or something depending on what they are used for. Food, medicine/vaccines/anti venom, ammo, traps/tubing/wiring/nets, mobile broadcasting radio. Just suggestions to get the mind flowing.
