    Default Cartoon Super Hero

I still need to paint and pose this character but I would really like to hear some of your critisms and/or suggestions to make him better. I have been a long time lurker on these forums and have been heavily inspired by a lot of you. This is the first thing I have had the guts to show. Please feel free to be critical. I could use any advice you may have.

A good first post. Cleanly sculpted. The hair needs a little love. The hard hat came out well.

Lots of good design choices. The details on the hard hat are great, really like the back strap -- matches the utility belt.

The hands with the "kirby" style squared-off fingers don't quite jibe with the rest of the figure. Everywhere else, the figure has soft edges and smooth-ish blends from one mass to another. The hands just don't visually match the rest. A wee bit of rounding for the fingers and esp. the tips should make them 'belong' with the rest of the figure.

Nice cartoon sculpt, all in all.

Really nice work. Not sure if I agree with Mr. Rhodes, however. Taken as a whole, his fingers match his chin, boots and just seem to fit, to my eyes at least. I like them.

    Overall really great work.

I really love this toungue in cheak style. Nice and clean.

Only thing i'd add is his feet are a tad small to my eye, looks like he might have trouble staying stood up. Overall though really cool sculpt and concept

At first glance, I like everthing about it, including the square fingers. At last glance, feel the same way. But, you did ask for help and I only see that perhaps the areas that are squared off, especially the chin and the boots, the corners are looking a bit pinched... maybe too many points coming in? Try rerouting the geometry just a bit to get rid of the pinched corners. Aside from this criticism, I think he is thematically great and very well modeled.

Just playing around trying to find a fitting hair style. Most of the time he is going to be sporting the Hard Hat.

I think you got a really great character going here
If I may crit one thing it would be the chin, I don't know how I would do it, but it kinda feels a bit unnatural as it is, maybe just make it a bit small.
Just a thought, keep it coming

Thanks Storm. That chin has definitely been a hot or cold feature. Some people like it, others dont.

    Coming along nicely!

As for the hair, if he's going to be wearing the hard hat a lot, then give the dude helmet hair!

Yeah he definitely needs some helmet hair. I am thinking maybe some ace ventura wings with a flattened top. I will get right on it...

looks good so far! I'd give him some eyelids to hold his eyeballs so he can blink and all that....that is unless you have something else already in mind....

Took a break from this character for a little while. Updated the polypainting on the face and went with more realistic eyes. Some additional poses and a close up to show off the new changes.
