At this moment, if you have a texture in ZB (enabled on the tool palette!) it will export and import (at least both home and work it worked)

Thanks guys, it makes me happy to see I made something useful
just tested it and works fine!

obviously under Vista/Seven you must disable UAC or run both apps as admin, or no save will be possible.

if you need help or testing just ask, i wanted to ask for GOZ sdk to pixo but you've been faster than me and did this.

    my compliments

    just an advice , why don't you use a %TEMP% path ?

Default Thank you and had this error

    --------------------------------------------------------
    INTERNAL ERROR.\AFile.cpp Line 728
    Unable to open/Create a File:
    D:\program files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\ZPlugs\GoSoftLiteData
    \GoSoftLite.OBJ

Please email us at support@pixologic.com.. etc...
    --------------------------------------------------------

But, I followed the exact PATH.
    I am using Winxpx64 SP2
    Install Path:
    D:\program files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\ZPlugs\GoSoftLiteData

    Full Rights! And still error.

I MANUALLY CREATED the directory: "GoSoftLiteData" which wasn't there.
    Tried again, and WORKS!!

Remove the directory and the problem comes back.

    Add again, and works GREAT!!

So for anyone getting this error, try that. Hope it helps!

    Cheers.

Actually if you copied the full content of the ZSC folder, there IS the directory (although it's empty). It's very common mistake that the GoSoftLiteData folder is not copied. Actually I haven't posted the new version yet, just on the mialing list to let users test. But tomorrow I'll post it here as well

    Update

If you install this addon, please take care that the full content of the ZSC folder must be copied EXATLY under Zbrush\ZSTartup\Zplugs folder!!!! The Subdirectory also!!!!!

New feature is that it uses the ZPlugs\GoSoftLitedata folder as temporary data storage, so far it seems that it's accessible to all users.

    Feature requests etc. are welcome!

    something wrong here,

uninstalled old .xsiaddon, restarted xsi, installed new addon, but in ZSC folder i've found only the GoSoftLite.zsc and nothing more.

the old .xsiaddon worked, this one gives this error:
    "' ERROR : Can't create output file"

    any tips?

Same here. I wonder how exactly you programmed this to know where our ZPlug folders are? My guess is that you didn't and that we have different install locations and therefore it doesn't work.

I have a suggestion for you which may easily fix all these problems (if it is possible):

Make it an option where we want the .obj files to go. Either within XSI and ZBrush or maybe simply by placing a text file with the .zsc file which we can edit and which is then read by the plugins.

Other than that, very nice plugin, the first version works like a charm (I'd really like to save the obj somewhere else than c:, though, since I'm using an SSD, meaning I don't have much space left and I don't want to write on it any more than necessary).

As I mentioned, you have to add your ZBrush root folder in the Preference section in Softimage. ZBrush KNOWS where is the proper folder, so if you followed the instruction, there won't be any problem (as many other artist have no issue with this)

    So, installation is:

    1. Drag and drop addon onto Softimage viewport
    2. Set File|Preferences|GoSoftLiteSetting Zbrush folder to point to your ZBrush root folder (without closing (back)slash)
    3. Find your users/Autodesk/Softimage/Addon/Gosoftimageliteaddon/ZSC folder
    4. Copy folder content (including subfolder) to your ZBrush/ZStartup/ZPlugs folder
    5. For the sake of safety restart both application

if you performed these steps, you gonna have GoSoftLite buttons in Softimage File menu, and at the end of Zbrush tool palette
    Cheers,

Ah, thank you. I didn't see you mentioning anything about setting the ZBrush folder first. Sorry.

Still, is there a way to let us chose the location ourselves? Don't get me wrong, please, I'm not complaining. I like what you did, I just would like to transfer it through a different folder. If that's too difficult to implement no problem.

At this moment my ZBrush scripting is limited, so I can't promise that But I'm eager to learn ZScripting, for some damned reason I love scripting...

But don't forget that's just a temporary solution until the real GoZ for Softimage is out.

Love this script! Big time saver for our team.

I had a few issues getting this newer plugin to work though but I figured it out. (Windows 7 64bit)

    1) Once you install the GoSoftimageLiteAddon you need to re-start XSI in order to update your preferences. Preferences can be found under File > Preferences > Custom > GoSoftLiteSettings

    2) The new plugin did not contain subfolders in the ZSC folder. Create the following folder and subfolder in Zplugs, GoSoftLiteData\GoSoftLite Your address should look like this ....\ZStartup\ZPlugs\GoSoftLiteData\GoSoftLite

    Thanks again for this script!

Gonna check it and add a minor adjustment also to enable importing materials as groups from this script (or a button for this from the preferences, importexport section?)
