Here is a small example of how the shurikens were created in a very short amount of time using the following tools in this order:
Shadowbox
Clip Curves / Circle
Trim Dynamic
Using ShadowBox, a primitive form of the piece is created for me. Afterwards, I use the clip brush to sharpen my edges, and create more clear circles. The circles can be made by using the Circle style as opposed to Curves when using your clip brush. You might want to turn on 'Square' and 'Center' to get uniform circles instead of ovals.
Afterwards I would utilize my Trim Dynamic tool to soften some edges and harden others. This entire process took about 5 minutes.
After I'm happy with the look of the blade, I'll use the relax feature on Zbrush to even out the mesh, then duplicate and transpose. Almost every aspect of my model was created using these methods.
Those aren't real swords, you can't even make fire with'em.
