    Default Lag makes this unusable

    Sculptris is unusable for me.
It lags at like 5 fps for a while whenever I use any tool at all, even with detail set to 0.

It only gets worse if I use the tablet, there's no sculpting at all, just lag.
I can't even rotate the camera.

I'm on windows XP, have 6 gigs of RAM and a geforce GTX 275 with the latest drivers installed.

    What's up with that?

I've got huge lag as well, as soon as the application launches with the default sphere onscreen. Win XP, 3.25 GB RAM, 2.99 GHz.

Any workarounds I am missing here?

I'd check drivers and card settings.

I've got a NVidia Quadro FX 4800 with current drivers. I also opened the Sculptris config and disabled shaders (enable_shaders 0) and the problem persists.

Anything else I should look at?

Hmm. Not sure what the problem is...

    I'm running:

    Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Phenom Quad core 9550 2.20 GHz
    6 gigs RAM
    GeForce GT 220

And everything is smooth. I've gotten up to 500k triangles and still no lag. Even have Aero on within Windows 7.

What are your video card settings for hardware acceleration, etc. Hope we can get you working!

Well, under my 3d settings I have "Let the 3D application decide" toggled on.

I tried playing with the Performance vs. Quality slider and moved the slider all of the way over to Performance, but I still saw no improvement in Sculptris.

Does my box meet the minimum system requirements for this program? Is XP 32bit supported?

ZBrush 3.5 works great on my box, so I am not exactly working on a dinosuar here.

You might find more help on the old Sculptris forums.

I had the same problem...go to the config in the sculptris folder and change the mt_maxthreads to 1 and save

Yep, I can confirm that settimg maxthreads to 1 makes it work all fine and dandy.
So I guess this topic is useless now lol.
Well at least other people can see the solution to that now.

I get a tiny bit of lag at very hight poly counts, but for the most part it's very smooth:

    Win7 64bit
    AMD Phenom II x4 920 2.8Ghz
    AMD Radeon 4870 512Mbs
    8Gbs Ram

Just a note: I belive win Xp like most 32bit operating systems will only use up to 3gb of ram. you would need a 64 bit to get any benefit from more than this! Though Don't quote me as I may be wrong?
