Wow Fil, this head is just awesome, and I really like the worker too...

sculptrisnewb- Thanks!
dreamz - Thanks! No real charater design or direction for this guy. Just sculpted him as it came to me (from sphere). Originally i kind of envisioned a guy in some sort of future metal factory with lots of noise (note the ear muffs). Some of the design choices, like the 'U' on his overalls, began as mistakes.
mermaidine - Thank you!
Ninjarobot - Polypaint, no contest. For multiple reason, first of which is workflow. In Sculptris (or Mudbox) i have to worry about UV's before i paint, in Zbrush i don't. So in Zbrush i feel free to rough in paint before i'm completely done sculpting, which can be very helpful artistically (and productively). But it's not the fault of the software, this is simply a flaw with traditional UV textures systems in general.
Second, Quality. Polypaint means there is actual geometry to represent high frequency detail, so the contours of the model correctly match the surface.
Third, memory & resolution. UV layouts don't use 100% of texture space and are limited to 16k maps on todays best cards.
PTex is coming to save the day, but when you get right down to it PTex is really just a way of storing micro-poly/paint data in GPU friendly texture tiles, at least that's how i understand it.
Honestly UV maps are a dieing technology IMO, and only really exist to take advantage of hardware index buffers (otherwise we all'd just use the AUV tiles button). Soon (i hope) we will never have to think about "textures" or UVs because all geometry and texture data will be stored synonymously in a streamable format.
sorry, that was probably more response than you bargained for
[edit] as far as the difference between Sculptris painting and Zbrush, they're pretty similar. i prefer Zbrush's masks to Sculptris's heightmask, and i like Zbrush's drag rect for placing viens/pores. Also, in Zbrush you can displace geometry and paint in the same stroke which helps with popping veins and things. Sculptris on the other hand has a snazy materials system which is awesome for Specular variation and is something Zbrush lacks.

FIL on your Painting and Bump test what alpha's were used? and just maybe could you share them with us all?
-
Sure, Download.
Only Alpha i used that i didn't include was Sculptris's 'Speckles' Alpha, which is good for pores. All of those (and many many more) can be downloaded from Pixologic's download center.
