    Default Squirrel Nut Ride

I meant to post this up just before Christmas :-) Still, Easter will do.

Yes anyway always late and to prove just how late...... this was my first picture using ZBrush 3. I know you guys have been using it for ages :-) I just liked where I'd put everything in ZBrush 2 so I just kept using it. Still do :-)

This image was created for "The Magistrates" Show at the The Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. Size of the print was and is 20" x35" or if of perverted European tendency , 50.8cm x 88.9cm.

So for my friends here who wondered what the first thing I would do when I got my hands on ZBrush 3? This was it.

    squirrels560_2.jpg

I got posing and sub tooling which got me drooling. I had to go on a high speed and sometimes skittish crash course to get up to speed with the myriad of changes from v 2.

A big thank you to Matthew at Pixologic for giving me the gentle poke to try ZBrush 3 meeting the deadline for this image without it would have been impossible.

    Best wishes to you all,

    Boozy

Lol! This reminds me of the squirrel that's been on my front yard. He's a very fat squirrel, eating a nut, and stayed in the same position for at least 2-3 hours. Wasn't dead either. Just lazy.

With work like that you could have your own line of greeting cards to beat out the Berenstain Bears. Terrific, whimsical!

    "of perverted European tendency"
    ha ha
anyway, this is top row stuff, in my opinion. It really doesn't look 'computer generated'
    from me.

It's been so long....I thought you may have fallen victim to the Bean-Nighe Baobhan Sith.
Good to see you posting again.

Thank you all so much for your kindly replies. The natural media look is derived from the texture work and the lighting. I seem incapable of doing anything else :-)

I'd give my hind teeth to be walking in a wood and come across a scene like this :-) With this piece I wanted to create something sweet that made you feel like a kid again - daring to think up something so silly :-)

I was a painter before I was a 3D artist and I think it informs the work I do and how I think. I always find it fascinating working in 3D how the form defines the line (the drawing) and the lighting defines the shading. I also like to investigate albeit with a virtual camera how the emotional eye sees and not how the camera eye sees.

It would be nice to post some more work soon and I do apologize for my poor attendance record here at the forum .

Your kindness and the amazing work you all do with zbrush is always an inspiration.
