Default sideshow collectibles, Snake eyes Vs Ninjas

    ZBCThumb4.jpg

    Hi guys!

long time no post!!! well today I'm really happy to present you the full reveal of sideshow collectibles Snake eyes Vs Ninjas! I had done this piece a while back in 2009 using Zbrush 3.1, it's my first job ever in the collectible biz, it's been a long dream of mine to work one day in the toy business and Adam Ross gave me such a chance! I met him in Montreal in 2007 where he was a speaker at adapt he was working at Mcfarlanne at the time and later when he created Idol Workshop he gave me this opportunity, of course I'm still in the video game industry working full time as a character art director at EA Montreal on a new IP,I was previously at ubisoft I had a great run over there and there is a lot a great people and friend that I miss. well that's it for the boring news there it is:

So I basically got a concept from sideshow early last year,I had basically to get the pose but to make his gear more tactical than the depicted concept, I also had to design the goggled version and the stage.
I basically sculpted everything in zbrush except the gun/holster snake eyes's sword/scabbard the knife, grenade that was modeled by my good friend Greg Rassam, well done buddy!

I have to say that Adam Ross (poboyross) was a mentor for me in this industry he directed me and pushed me to get the best result possible without him this piece wouldn't have been what it is now. he also
did all the technical work cutting off all the pieces in meshlab to be able to cast it (he write about it in this thread)

well done to the rest of the team! they did an incredible job! they are the one that actually worked on the physical models and did the photo shoot (I don't know them but they are credited under spec on)

you won't see my name in the credits because I'm under the banner of idol worshop

Ridiculously good. How much time did they give you to finish this?

    E P I C !

i think this piece will be The piece that marks the beginning point that digital print is the better way to go for collectible companies in terms of consistency in scale, efficiency (double ninjas) and details (guns, boots, thin shoe laces which tend to look like noodles with traditional sculpting) esp for something so complex like this diorama to be sculpted with consistency

    i absolutely love it~

I can't help but ask if you would post your workflow on the base? The rocks, wood, and sand are all excellent and I'd love to see how you go about making them!
