    Default 3d Jam #4: Frankenstein - sPankyAce

Hello folks, I'll be doing a Frankenstein bust as my entry in this challenge. I found a great concept from Austin Hillebrecht over at deviant art that spawned my idea for a different looking Frankenstein. Here is a quick concept I put together and I should have some updates coming soon.

Quick update: I was thinking i'd just do a quick zbrush concept from a polysphere, but now that i'm starting like where i'm going and not sure i'll ever go back and start over. The biggest problem with starting with polyspheres (at least for me) is the mesh tesselation gets really wacked out and you'll start noticing it when you start laying down colors.

My work flow so far: started with a polysphere that i pinched about 3/4 was down to form the neck and then just started form there. I have been strickly using the default ClayTubes brush and a brush i downloaded called Damien Standard thus far.

Anyway, more updates to come, enjoy.

Update: Adding in other mesh objects: eyes, stitches, hair, cloths and neck bolts.

Great volumes & forms -- love the fresh (not overworked), style.

Brilliant! I like how you increased the size of the skull from concept to sculpt. Maybe you could try and make the outer line of the ear a bit softer and not so mech. Even though it applies to the design, it feels a bit mech. Check your concept to see what I mean

    Sculptor - Thank you.

    Intervain - Glad you like

groBoto - Oh, don't worry about me "overworking" anything. This is only my 3rd time using zbrush, so my stuff is pretty simple currently while I figure out all the things this software can do.

Mikademius - I think i know what your talking about and I totally agree. I'm still pretty new with zbrush so i'm still fighting the tool trying to get my desired result. great feedback, thanks.

No worries dude. What usually helps regarding new brushes is to go nuts on one of the tools that are shipped with Zbrush. then you'll get a better understanding of which brush to use when. I'd use clay tubes on the ear and then clay + smooth to even it out. Everyone works in their own way so this might not apply to you. Anyway, enjoy the sculpting

Small update: refined the worked on the ear, check and brow areas, also changed his jacket to have a smaller collar just to see what it would look like, not sure which i like.

Keep the feedback coming guys, it really does help a lot.
