This sculpt is really turning into a lovely piece! I still think the top of the ear needs more mass. I'm not on a machine with PS now so I can't do a paintover. I hope you understand what I mean

Big collar, makes it look like he's wearing a coat, small collar makes him look like the janitor. I like the small one...

Looking awesome, Sluss! He has tons of appeal and a super cool style. Can't wait to see him finished. You're going to be done with this guy in no time!

Another quick update: Thank you for all the crits and comps, they have been very helpful. Did some clean up work on the face, finally found a jacket i liked, and dropped some flat colors on the dude so i can start visualizing what kind of paint job i want him to have. The eyes are still very much WIP, still not real sure where i'm going yet.

Update: Worked on the paint job, neck bolts, added another row of stitches around his neck and worked on the jacket and coat some.

    Hey sPankyAce.

Very nice progress. I like what you are adding to the character with your textures. I have a couple of comments. I'm sorry they are coming so late, but I didn't see it earlier...

1)Eyes, I think the eyes are a tad to close to each other. He looks like a duck with those eyes and that nose so if you could separate them more and give him a bit more nose I think we'd read him more like a "human"

    2) Bolts. I see you have already started this, but where the bolt penetrates you could raise the skin so it goes more over the bolt. If you imagine the bolt going into a ring like this:

warning: The picture contains sick piercing
    http://www.odditycentral.com/wp-cont...iercing11.jpeg

basically the guy has some rings under the skin. This creates a crater like shape that the bolt could go in to

    3) Color in the crack. Throw some sore skin color in the cut. Red, pink, skin mix

    Great stuff Mik, thanks!

I've had others say that about the eyes, so your comment reassures me that would be a good change. The raised skin around the bolts is just too subtle right now, i'll try to over-exaggerate those like in your link. And the red'ish skin around his cuts is a great idea.

Haven't been able to find much time to work on this lately, but here's a small update.

Nice character. His sternocleidomastoideus should come from behind his ears though

Very nice! I like his eyes now... Pinkish color on the cuts are working fine, you might want to add it to the bolts as well, or at least darken the meeting point. Maybe you are adding occlusion to it and then it will probably solve itself though.

cherub is right about the sterns unfortunately

Playing with the paint and some minor tweaks to the mesh.

Great! If you manage to render it in mental ray or such it'd be ace! Even with the sculpted hair
