Default Biker Game Character WIP and Crit.

    Hi,

Working on a character for a mod. The brief was a rough Russian biker. I have concept art to work from etc but was just hoping for some crit.

I am having problems with getting the facial hair to look thick with out it turning into strands of gloopy blobs. I have re-done that beard over and over but lkeep falling into the same pit falls. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I still feel the face looks amateurish, but whether its the proportions that are off, lack of detail, the fact that its simple incomplete, I'm not sure.

Iv also noticed now that I come to post, his temples are far far too deep as are some areas around his cheek bones.

His body Im mostly pleased with so far, but its still lacking details, belt buckle looks like it is floating, and the rip on the leg needs to be touched up.

Any way enough of my words, here are the pics .

    Any comments and crits welcome!

Nice sculpt! My only main crit atm is the head, you should define the hairline otherwise it makes his hair look like he has a deformed skull :3

    Thanks for the reply ~TLishman.

Yeh he did have hair but then I smoothed it all out because it wasn't going well, im going to work on it again and post my work in progress, see if I can get any tips on where I am going wrong.

Great head sculpt, no crits. Great job keeping the detail only using the normal map on such a low poly head.

    Thanks Aberrant

Here is an update with a diffuse and specular map. The specular map really isnt doing much at the moment to help so I really need to work on it. Beard is still under construction.

    Any comments and crits welcome.

[Added a picture with a bit more lighting.]

Do you have any lights in your Maya scene and if so are they on (hit 7)?

I do have lights, I just have a strong ambient light, I purposefully evenly lit the scene so could clearly see areas of the diffuse map that needed attention.

The model is great but the textures arent doing much good for it! If i was you i would try using some photos for the textures instead of hand painting. It would really up the realism and the whole feel. Keep it up!
