Default John Wayne Likeness - WIP

I've been using ZBrush for about 6 months and I thought it was about time I try a likeness.

This is definitely a work in progress... I plan on adding finer detail in the model itself and then texturing and ultimately doing a full color render with modo.

I'm certainly open to feedback and constructive criticism! Thanks!!

Sweet, definitely looks like him. The wrinkles on the skin look pretty nice, and the hair feels very natural.

I have to say, the expression is a little odd, though. Is he smiling or terrified?

Midost - Thanks for the words of encouragement... yes, I the expression is a little funny right now – this is due to working on the model in symmetry mode and not taking the time to pose it yet or refine the expression.

Default John Wayne WIP - Updated

I put some more time in on John today... I've given him a smile and added a button to his shirt. I also tweaked the face to hopefully improve on the likeness.

I just started working on a hat and plan to post that soon. Next I'll move on to the pose, fine details and texturing.

    Thanks for the feedback!!

    Default He's Got a Hat!!

It's amazing what the addition of a hat does for Mr. Wayne!

Your sculpt definitely resembles "The Duke." I knew it was him from the thumbnail on the front page. Maybe he's a bit too thin around the face and neck, though. I'm used to him looking a little thicker, unless he's supposed to be younger. Judging from the wrinkles, I'd say he's supposed to be an older version.

Webhead - thanks for the feedback! I pulled my reference images from the movie "McClintock" and Wayne was a little younger and thinner than he is in the photo you posted... but you may be right my sculpt may still be a little thin in the neck.
