Doesnt sound bad but alienware design is so ugggggly! And they seem to be
really heavy, never layd my hands on one.
Id prefer a thinkpad w700. Look at this beauty!

It has a tablett!!! Insane!

I agree its a little like carrying las vegas around… and when I pull it out to sketch people in cafes it will take a while for conversation to calm down… I did this in the Himalayas… it causes a major stir but if its also flashin like there’s no tomorrow it wont be easy to get the people to relax so I can sculpt them…

the catch is that alienware are suppling everthing the company I am painting a mural for and they can get a deal… never look a gift horse in the mouth an all that

sure enough if its a pain to lug around I will ebay it …

most powerful laptop in the universe is a hilarious selling point!

what interests me is the spec

I think you may be better off getting a Elite ThinkPad W700ds

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Core Extreme Processor QX9300 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 12MBL2)
System Graphics: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M 128-core CUDA parallel computing processor 1GB (dedicated)
Total memory: 8 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
and all the other normal stuff that comes with a workstation laptop
Edit: almost forgot…an extra pull out screen…

and it also has a built in wacom tab for your zbrushing pleasure…though i havent tried it on that…just photoshop so far.

that does look like quite a machine >>>>>>

time for some reasearch me thinks … thanks very much chk2033

How is the pressure sensitivity on the built in tablet on the lenovo w700 for photoshop? I wonder if you do any serious zbrush work with it on the move too.

Its wacom built and has the same levels as an intuos 3 i think.

certainly looks lighter… I did infact get a chance to sketch people sitting in the himalayas as long as the wacom fits in the bag I like to get the full sweep of the med size wacom tablet so I am happy to have it dragging around with me… what really concerns me is the weight of the alienware…

but as mentioned before the alienware is coming to me through a exchange deal else I would probably put up with the one I have at the moment an acer aspire 6920g with 4 gb ram and handles good sized models…

hmmmmm 5 kgs is a lot! but more polys:p choices choices!!

Hi brother,
I’ve bought the Alienware 17 laptop very recently with the following specs

CPU: 2.5GHz
processor:Intel Core i7-4710HQ
Graphics:Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M,Intel HD Graphics 4600
RAM: 16GB
Screen: 17.3 inch, anti-glare display
Storage: 256 GB + 1TB HDD
Camera: 2MP Full HD webcam
Weight: 8.33 pounds (3.78 kg)
Size: 16.93 x 11.49 x 1.35 inches

and it seems very heavy to carry on the daily basis since im using a normal carrybag finding it difficult day by day,so kindly let me know how you are managing it out.

waiting for your input.
Thank you:).

oops!!! i think i bumpedup to a very old thread:o but still in need of a suggestion.

Hi, since i mentioned yesterday about the difficulty in carrying the heavy weight laptop while i was searching for some good backpacks which is light weighted and good for carrying the laptop on the daily basis, here are some of the useful references i got
