Started a new piece this morning..Putting the grizzly bear into it as he is now as a placeholder for now, until I give him a proper coat of fur using FiberMesh.

Working on the FiberMesh fur for this Grizzly Bear this morning...I like the way it looks without the BPR render as it is now...Looks too soft after the BPR render...So I think I will just fake the shadows by poly painting them in ...It is a painting after all..
Will work on the head fur next,..and then put in place those long thick claws.

really like the bear and the fur. yes, i too noticed that bpr render makes fur looking soft. i like the fur as you have it now, it looks rough and a little wet, like he was just fishing :-)
Hi Spirit, I often jump to your thread. Imho most sensational thumbnails on ZBC always leading me to your work.
I love the way you work with things and carefully explore details.
About your too soft fur - have you played with different materials for fur?
A quick check showed me that you can achieve a bunch of different results including from hard to soft.
You have trillions of possibilities in adjusting the rendered BPR picture directly in zBrush by using "Adjustments" and "BPR Filters" AFTER you have rendered.
In those ways I am 100% sure you can get even much much more than you have with realtime preview now.
I am quite new to zBrush and didn't know that, maybe you don't know that too. If not, you will love it. Otherwise I am not sure how you created all this beautiful atmospheres in this thread?![]()
Keep it coming.I'll keep on visiting you.![]()

Kenny..Hey Thanks man..Still along ways to go yet..Don't know where i'm going, but as another explorer put it....I'm going there Anyway..
Kokoro..Thank You...I kind of like the way the FiberMesh looks without the BPR..Reminds me of an expressionistic or impressionistic style of painting..Not too hard to take it in that direction, if left without the BPR..Depends on what kind of style one is after in the piece that one is creating I imagine ..With the BPR, things look super real, almost to the point of being photographic, which is a whole other style of painting in itself...I guess it's just a matter of personal taste in the end as to which style one tries for in a piece that one is working on..Decisions Decisions..
Knacki...Thank You...I'm sure you are right about those BPR settings being able to get fantastic results..I've yet to explore even a few of them yet..Baby Steps for me ..all the way along this journy, so far anyway..
..But I have been trying to explore a little something new with each piece that I experiment with...So much new stuff to explore is the problem, ..but it's a fun problem to say the least.....In a never ending adventure. LOL
Glad you enjoy the Atmosphere Also..
Thanks Again for the visit, input, suggestions...Very Much appreciated, Welcomed, and Useful..
Glenn

Thanks David...A ZBRUSH Ark...Now there's a Thought worth keeping in mind..
Put some claws on this grizzly bear, and got a BPR of him.Starting to explore the New Render and LightCap features a little more than I have so far..Lots to learn in that area for me yet, ..for sure.

Eperimenting with the render sliders in LightCap,..and then pressed Best Render..Got the coarse fur of the Grizzly, the way it should look I think....The BPR is just not as good a render for this type of grizzled fur effect...Too soft, and lacks the sparkle in the fur that a Grizzly has....Will keep trying with the BPR though, just to see what happens..might be a way to match it up with the Best Render look of the fur....Got to luv this new technology..Pure Magic..
