thanks guys... yes, that´s right. this is the qeen face hugger from alien 3. which you can see in the movie only for two seconds I think the design is deserving more than two seconds of presentation !!!!

Awesome work Puck. Really great sculpt of this Queen hugger.

I love the textures allot. Did You use a separate mesh part for the membranes? Or Alpha mask? Can You show some wires too?

Sorry for curious questions but You got a really impressed Alien fan here

    Thumbs up.

    Cheers

Hey! Dunno why but I ain't feeling this one as I do your other works, perhaps too polished?

    Cheers

    Default Making Of

this is a little making of the face hugger.

I started with Zspheres to build the lowpoli basemesh. only the tail mesh was done in 3ds max. but it would be possible to do it in Zbrush too.
all legs, nails and the tail are separate subtools.
for the legs I used one tool which was later copied, modified and mirrored for all other legs.
after sculpting, I exported the low poli meshes for making a UV. the meshes with new UV were imported. after that I painted the tools with polipainting.

after painting the diffuse color I exported the texture and the displacement maps. the diffuse map was modified in photo shop. I used the displacement maps for adding a little fake ambient occlusion to the diffuse map!

the specular map is a modified diffuse map!

    MEMBRANE

the membrane was done after posing the main tools. posing was done with transposemaster in Zbrush.
the membrane was made from the main-tool´s mesh in 3ds max.

I rendered the face hugger in 3Ds max with Vray. I used the normal Vray Mtl with translucency for subsurface scattering.

    here a clean Zbrush rendering.
    thanks!
