New Z Machine

I just ordered an AMD 1.3gig TBird, 512meg ram, An nNvidia GeForce2 DDR GTS 64meg, a ABIT KTA raid board, over 60gig of space on two drives in a server tower.

Will that be any better for ZBrush than my PII 333 with 128meg ram....

HAHA...You bet it will...

Is there anything I should change in that lot??? A fellow ZB`er advised me some months ago and I can`t remember which one of you it was. But thanks.

Southern, sounds like an AWESOME system! The perfect Z-machine! I'm almost done researching to build my own new system and mine could be similar to yours, slthough I might get the ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon instead, and maybe a slightly slower processor. That Abit KT7A-Raid board looks like a real winner. Congratulations! I'm jealous!

Stevie, if you could get a Wacom tablet to work with your system, I would seriously recommend it. I just got one last week and it adds a LOT more control over Zbrush, as well as any other graphics program. Hell, I hardly use the mouse at all any more. Check out Wacom's website for a KILLER deal on factory refurbished Intuos tablets. Mine is perfect, and cost less than HALF of what they sell for online or in stores! Good luck with your decision.

I'm going to throw my two cents in here-I've got 900 AMD T-Bird with 640 megs of ram and a
30 GIG HD and a 32megDDR Hercules Prophet
GeForce 2.Last weekend I kind of went nuts and bought a 21"Hitachi CMB23F monitor which
is set up(resolution wise)for the new GeForce3's.
That is the next purchase.The 128megs of
DDR ram is supposed to run an ungodly res of
2048x1536 on this monitor-don't know if that is the god's truth but what the heck,I'm
prepared.

The two most important items are the CPU speed and available system memory. The larger that images that you are planning to do, the more impact the amount of system memory and the memory speed would have.
Bottom line, you can except to have lots of fun with your new system

Gurgler:
The capability to combine 3D objects and be able to reposition previously placed 3D objects is one of the most requested features and it will be (prior to version 1.5) fully implemented in ZBrush.
In fact, I will post today/tonight some info about an undocumented feature that is currently available in the version that you currently have (version1.13). This feature is not documented because it has not been completed, but still, it can be helpful when creating an object that is composed from several 3D objects.


As to your 2nd post ...


Some of you have known me for a while as Pixelator (I've since had to change the spelling), and we've enjoyed swapping ideas and information about ZBrush.

My reasons for taking an alias were simple and straightforward:

First, I wanted to get candid, honest feedback from other creative people on ZBrush and my artwork. I didn't want my role as developer to cloud your opinions of my images while at the same time I didn't want my weaknesses as an artist to reflect badly on the program.

Second, I wanted people to freely express their opinions of the program, positive or negative, without diluting them in the presence of someone so close to it. Incidentally, I'm hoping you can feel free to exercise the same freedom in ZBrushCentral.

I've truly enjoyed our interactions so far, and I hope you have too. ZBrush itself has already benefited greatly from user feedback and it is my sincere wish that we can continue to develop a stronger sense of community as we continue to develop a better program.

Pixolator, I put NORRR on my Windows background for a long time to INSPIRE ME to learn more about your wonderful program, every time I turn on the computer. If you haven't already bought it there two things to consider. the first is DDR memory for the main memory. The second is www.overclockers.co.uk they can give you advice about buying a motherboard CPU combination that will be clockable. The memory for AMD's have to be spot on, no cheap stuff, otherwise it will refuse to boot.

I think I was the one that recommended that motherboard to you Southern, it's the one I've got and I've been quite pleased with it. Sounds like a killer ZMachine to me.

GOT IT....

Added one small thing, another 512meg. I now has 1024MEG of RAM..... I need a bag of nails to fix it to the floor. The damn thing has got wheels (and I`m not joking).

The company uses the KT7 board for the servers it builds and the tower is massive. I will let you all know later how it performs with ZBrush.

Has anyone else experience of this graphics card, a Winfast Geforce2 GTS DDR AGPx4/x2 (it is only the 32 not the 64 version)

Did you hear they just released the Pentium 4 - 1.7ghz CPU at half price? (USA-$500).
Thou I heard the Pentium 4 wasn't that hot, and it would be the last of the pentium brand. Maybe its those weird blue guys scaring everyone away.
