This has been bugging me for quite some time. While modifying a tool, I have often wished that I could Size Y, Size Z, or Size YZ, but we only have Size XYZ, Size X, and Size XY. Why is that?

Rotate your object until you have the axis that you want then use the appropriate slider.

I figured out that that was the way to get around it, but I was just wondering why the other options were not included...
Hi CDEdwards,
You've raised a good point. Now, with ZBrushCentral available, this is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of this direct communication and put this decision to a vote.
I invite all ZBrush users to read the following and reply to this post with their choice...
As I see it, there are two logical choices:
Configuration A: 3 buttons: x, xy, xyz (the current configuration)
Configuration B: 5 buttons: x, y, z, xy, xyz (xz and yz are not very intuitive and are unlikely to be used often).
Configuration B would indeed add functionality, but would use more screen space. This is an important consideration especially for those using the 1024x768 screen resolution.
Tell me what you think. I'll tally the votes before the next ZBrush release, and implement the configuration preferred by the majority of members.
Thanks,
Pixolator
How about something like...
X Y Z
<--->
Where you could select which axes to resize and then have a slider underneath to actually perform the resize.
Pixolator, I formally request Configuration B. That is, unless you could consider CDEdwards' suggestion, maybe Configuration C?
Thanks,
Choice B gets my vote. Currently it may take multiple operations to resize depending on the initial orientation. To save real estate you could have "size" with a "modifier" box.

If "configuration C" is an option, my vote goes towards that...otherwise, B.
Trying to rotate the object using Shift can be very irritating sometimes...
I have added the option suggested by CDEdwards as configuraton C
The updated options are...
Configuration A: 3 sliders: x, xy, xyz (the current configuration)
Configuration B: 5 sliders: x, y, z, xy, xyz (xz and yz are not very intuitive and are unlikely to be used often).
Configuration C: 3 buttons + 1 slider: x,y,z switch modifiers and one 'size' silder ( [x][y][z] + [<----0---->] )
Configuration D: Any of the above
Please post your vote below...
I vote for Configuration C.![]()
'Morning Pixolator.....If using the "C" configuration - you would be able to select (X-Y-Z) buttons, would you also be able to select any combination of the three buttons (XY-XZ-YZ-XYZ)??? Meaning, you would still have only 3 buttons & 1 slider, but you could choose more than 1 button at the same time. If so, that's the choice I feel would be the most flexible. It would save space & you would have any single choice or any combination that exists.I vote for choice "C" Have Z good one.....
Mark.
Configuration C, as Kruzr just described, would be perfect! That one gets my vote.
Thanks, Pixolator
Hi,
Yes, any of the x,y,z combinations would work except the one combination in which all modifiers are off (ie. 7 valid combinations, 1 invalid).
Option C is my choice.![]()
I vote for option C
