    Post DARRRCULA!

    Hi ,
DARRRCULA! is the latest image from the RRR creature series. This image was done the same way the other RRR images have been created. Starting with modeling and coloring the head (which was made out of Sphere3D) then ‘snapshot’ the object and using the various brushes in order to add fine details.

I usually try to work in document size that would be 1.5 to 2 times larger then the final image size. When modeling I do give initial coat of paint to the actual model and later I will create a large size texture and use combination of 3D painting and 3DCopy to add the details to the texture. Final color details are added after I snapshot the object (when you snapshot an important object into the canvas, it is a good practice to place a marker and save the object at that stage). If for some reason I decide that the size/orientation/position of the object need to be changed, I use the marker and the 3DCopy function to ‘copy’ the colors from the canvas back into the object’s texture.
Below is an image that shows the 3D object and its texture just before taking a snapshot, on the right is a portion of the image in actual size.

This was excellent at the ZAcademy, excellent at Renderosity and now excellent at ZBrush Central! So, Pixelator...changed the spelling of your name? Good to have a forum again.

    Thanks!

    Question

Someone had said that when they looked closely they could see what looked like eyes in the sockets of this creature's design pic. I couldn't see it, but they insisted it was there... Did you import another model, or use a texture map to help you create the model in ZBrush, or is it 100% ZBrush?

Pix, you stated that this pic is not yet completed. What more are you gonna do with it? Still anxiously waiting to see the final!

Well is ur creature hissing or opening his mouth as to bit soemthing? or is he blowing out alot of air? If he was hissing or going to bite, u have the lips wrong dont u think? The lips sud be streatched across its teeth and the tongue pushed up behind the teeth,,, if ur creature is just sticking out his tongue, then try the top lip against its teeth, i dont meen to be rude or anything, its great, i just think that wud help it be more realistic

    Hi ChadC . . .

I don't think Pixolator will mind me answering your question. He used the "Ring3D" tool & modified the Ring in the "Tool / Modifiers / Initialize" section, where you can edit all the properties of your Tools.

    Have a good one . . . Mark.

That is an old image, older than ZBrushCentral
Thank you all for your ‘old’ feedback and to ChandC for a ‘new’ feedback.
Kruzr: Not only that “I do not mind” I do thank you for taking the time and giving a helping hand

P.S. Re-reading the thread, I noticed the unanswered questions ...
Yes, CDEdwards , it is all 100% ZBrush (excluding text and jpg compression),head and chest are modified Sphere3D objects.
Nikko: Maybe soon, maybe later, maybe sooner than later

( I hope that "Better late than never" is holding true for a reply)

More of your usual phenomenal work, Pixolator. I've seen it before, too, but there are details here that I don't recall. Was that collar created using the Gear3D tool? My one nitpick on this would be that the bottom of the collar appears to be sunk into his flesh as it wraps around toward the back. Judging from the ridge going up the back of his neck, that must be one major piercing out of sight back there, too! Ouch!

It's great that you keep showing these images -- whether new or brought out of safekeeping. Very inspiring, and full of interesting tidbits of knowledge for the observant eye. By the way, I've always wondered: What does the RRR stand for?

I'm just guessing, but I think the collar was done with an open cylinder that was deformed using masking. I don't think the Gear3D tool existed yet, even for Pixolator.
