Well now I know why i havent seen a post in here from you for a while! You
have been really busy working on this. this is top row for sure Chris! You can
cut diamonds with your style, its that sharp . I especially love the mood you
have with the blue moon light showing through on the hairs on his back and
body. Someone is gonna pay for upsetting the girl! (don't upset the girl).

Simply brutal!!!! Any chance of a making of, or a breakdown of the process?

selahpoetic - Thanks! I started with zspheres for the bugbear but used a low mesh for the girl built from max along with a lot of the gear on the bugbear.

jramauri - thank you! yes, I did a breakdown on this thread here: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=088393

Since the release of ZB4, I've been playing with all the new features and I think shadowbox has to be the coolest thing added. I made this robot using only shadowbox and created a bunch of unique parts, then decimated them, took them into a 64 bit version of 3DSMax and duplicated everything, posed it and brought it back into zbrush for renders. Probably not the best process so if you guys know of a better way, please let me know. After creating most of the parts, I was getting up to 20 million so I decimated what I had down to about a million polys, took it into max and finished it, with no problem and when I brought it back into zbrush after duplicating and posing the parts, it was up to about 15 million (decimated) So, yeah it would have gotten really big without decimating. The part I was trying to figure out was how to reconstruct subdivisions from a mesh created with shadowbox without rebuilding a low mesh (I'm really lazy). If anyone knows and can share, that would be super.

Here's all the unique parts (first image), then everything assembled front and back (2nd image) and then finally the rendered image. If you want to read more about how the idea developed, you can go here: http://robotentertainment.com/blog/d...-Robots-Part-4

I'm loving the new shadow pass with BPR. Makes it easy to mask out stuff I don't want on my rim lighting. Hope you guys digs it.

Chris, this is really cool!. I love the design and the colors you chose. I hate to critique anything, but, i wish some of the hard surface edges and corners were pinched a little harder. Some of the edges feel a little melted/soft for such an awesome mechanical creature like this. Also, in the concept, the neck area, it's really successful seeing the neck plates broken up by the dark lines underneath, it's too bad it doesn't read as clear from the angle in your final 3d. But all those mechanical pieces, mmmm delicious for the eyes. I always love seeing your work, I'm a fan.
