Wonderful works posted by everyone. The styles are awesome and it explains so much about the approaches many take to their sculpting. A real treat!

For those of you thinking Zbrush is only 3D, I can tell you haven't been around the application very long.

Many of you are missing the obvious capabilities these updated abilities provide. They are not new, but have been reworked in a major way. Marcus is a genius for even thinking this was possible way back when.

So some of you sculpt without any idea where you are going? You model without considering form, balance, or the desired result of the director/client/whatever? That explains quite a bit of the things we see across many forums.

Long ago a company called Alias had this wonderful tool to allow you to move back and forth from 2D to 3D, back and forth, resulting in some amazing works of design, art, vfx and things used in film and television. It has been missed by many of us who were around back then.

Thank you Pixologic. You have brought back a much needed tool that hopefully combined with other tools mentioned will allow so much more to be done quickly and with great creativity.

There's some beautiful work going on with PaintStop. And seeing what other's have done with it makes me want to take a closer look at it.

.....I've puzzled over why some people spend weeks making detailed 3D and then having only a 2D rendered image to show for it. I've actually questioned this before on these forums. Some of my first posts were motivated by my confusion over why we're spending so much time using 3D to create 2D images. I wanted to see that cool 3D stuff in 3D!.

As far as using 3D to create 2D images is concerned... the way I figure it is, in art, the end justifies the means. I look at 3D art from an illustrator's perspective. Oil, Pastel, Watercolor... they all have distinctive looks to them. I consider ZBrush just another medium - and it's my medium of choice at the moment because I can get a distinctive look from it.

It's also very cool that ZBrush can emulate natural media now like pencil, pastel and everything. What I find interesting is that some of the best digital paintings I have collected in my favs folder were created with nothing but the default flat brush in Photoshop. And yes, you can tell that they were done in Photoshop, just as you can tell that something was done in pencil or watercolor. Which I guess brings me back again to my point that in art, the end justifies the means. What does it really matter if you can tell what medium something was done in? What should really matter is that whatever the medium used (natural pencil, digital watercolor, Photoshop, 2D, 3D, etc...), is that it's all done with good artistry and skill.

I couldn't sleep this night so did a sketch (not the most original concept I know :P), really like the authentic mediums.



I'll definitely be using PaintStop again very soon. Keep up the fantastic art making.

some great artwork in this thread,u all are doing great,i did some quick sculpt from zsphere in 1.30 hr.with paint stop speed painting i was getting some concepts of demons,and just ended with this.i hope you will like it.
