    Default Don't mess with Grampa!

Hi guys I had a potential client who was interested in hiring me as a freelancer so I decided to do a quick project to show my skills, it didn't work out but I loved the concept and I kept pushing it and working on it. The character is kinda your typical Lebanese villager who lives in the mountains during earlier 20th century from my grandfather's generation and most of them were farmers thus the sickle, so I created this character sort of an homage. comments/Critiques are welcomed

I made some major changes on the body proportions and added some more wrinkles around the neck and the corner of the eyes, plus tweaked the ears again, and tweaked again the abs after checking out some references.

    Comments/Critiques are very welcomed

Interesting! Good decision to change the proportions to more realistic. I suggest you brush the eyebrows and moustache directly onto the face instead, it will probably look better. The ears need to be remodelled, they don't have any 'y' area. Try watching a reference photo while you sculpt them. Did your grandfather really wear that kind of clothes? Awesome

sorry it took a while, It's been hectic during that period, and I was practicing rendering on Maya Displacement maps, and some studio lighting practice. I tweaked a little bit the wrinkles of the fabric, and some overall tweaking of the muscles, and tweaked a little bit more the face and the ear. I might start texturing the guy soon, but here's a quick colored version of the guy

Gaarder: yeah you're right about the ear area, definitely need some major remodeling, changed it's position and everything.

Well It's not exactly precise the way he dressed, the pants are actually much poofier a la MC Hammer... I tightened it so he could look more dynamic...but there might be a possibility I might revisit that and change it to that style...and no he wasn't shirtless and far from being bulky...but there is some sort of pride when many people talk about their grandfathers back at home always painting them into this Herculian light that's why this is more of a caricature :P
