    Moni - thanks very much

    Al. Tintop - thank you

Kupo - thanks... so not into setting up the rendering ... the prospect just doesn't thrill me at all

    MayaDamien - thank you

    Sebcesoir - lol thanks Seb
    MikeJensen - thank you

    GregStrangis - thanks

    vedanta - thank you

Tarantony - yes I used this and other refs as I've mentioned before Thankfully there's quite a lot to draw from with this character and a lot of variation too [not all of them look the same which allows for some freedom]

stoyan3d - thank you very much

well I'm not really into working on her much longer - it was only a side project and it's gone on too long IMO - anyway for now I'm leaving her at that... I've uploaded a turntable but because all the compressed versions looked really bad and blurry I made a slightly bigger video. It's better to just right-click and save if you're interested instead of waiting for it to load up

Here's the link to the turntable

Here's a larger image [and I'll leave it at that for now]

back to sketching - since this is supposed to be a sketchbook and it hasn't been in a while in all honestly...

an alien ambassador - just some fun:

    ambassador_sketch.jpg

and a little WIP - bit of fan art - MERLIN. I LOVE this show [that's saying little - I'm obsessed with it in fact] and thought I'd give Colin a go. The likeness is not there yet but there's hope I might print this one I think, once I'm done with him

    cheers

Ha, I love the ambassador. I'm happy that alien's seem to have developed colonial wigs as well. It must be, at the very least, a universal part of cultural evolution.

    Amazing work, I 'm fan

Mrs Magdalena can you explain us your workflow for modeling a character? Base mesh in Max/Maya and then sculpt in ZBrush ? or all in ZBrush and retopology for the animated version?
I 'm a french student (sorry for my english ) and I learn ZBrush by myself, I've got a lot of question about the productivity with ZBrush in game industry, I hope to be a character modeler and ZBrush is my favourite software.
But my teachers says that is not enough useful in production so they tell me to just learn Max, but i 'm not agree with them, what can you say about what ZBrush bring about your workflow?

    Thanks for reading

    thanks guys

Kenshiro - it differs depending on the model. For Kerrigan I took a basic human mesh and made a quick sculpt in Zbrush to figure out the proportions [it looked like a big mess but was enough to help me build the base mesh].
    Here's the base mesh
    kerr_wire.jpg
as you can see it's quite detailed - once I had the proportions I wanted to make a proper model That done, I put it to Zbrush and had loads of fun Well I think if you want to work in the industry you need to know a traditional package first - Zbrush is still a secondary one

here's another alien I'm working on now [same process] - just got back to him after a while - MALEK. He's based on a concept by the awesome Ben Mauro who was very kind and allowed me to play with his idea I only just imported the meshes to XSI so they're all shiny phongs and no maps, but I thought I'd show you the WIP
