Dickie Payne's Sketchbook

Hey folks,

It’s been a few years since I posted anything. Decided to put some junk up I have played with in the intervening time. Some old, some new, some crap. It’s been a while since I got to use Z-Brush to play…

Here’s a Starikosaurus I did for Animal Planet’s “Animal Armageddon”.

Hi Dickie!
I always give a try to your “Paper-Sketch” mat at my models, I absolutely love it!
Nice work on the heads, I remember the first on the left and love absolutely the one in the center.
Nice work on the Saurus… and stunning effect on rendering the skin

awesomw…absolutely awesome./…I love the moroccan Guy sculpt…what material is that/

Guti: I’m very happy you like the Sketch material! I still use that occasionally. It’s a nice change from the usual photoreal stuff.

Peter: Your work is a MAJOR inspiration for me. I have your webpage bookmarked from when I started working on the dinos. As for the Morrocan’s skin, I think it’s a variation of the skin I posted a while ago. I used a material that Lil D came up with and modified it from there. You can look in my old threads for it or if you want, I can repost it.

When i did the dinos, i only had like 3 days a piece for them. That’s why I only posted the Starikosaurus and the Triceratops…well, he’ll be up in a moment. TV production just doesn’t allow for much time to do the quality i want to do…

Dickie

HELLO MY FRIEND!!!
Nice to see you here again!!
I like your things! and like alwasy very interesting materials. I keep using your plastiline mat you gave me few years ago.

Thank for all, Arturo

Dickie,…i think you know I love dinosaurs and these are amongst the most sympathetically and sensitively sculpted Ive seen…so good to see them.

Can I ask…anychance of letting me have the moroccan guy material?..i can find it anywhere…or a link to where it rests.

thanks,

Peter

Peter,

Considering that your work is what helped teach and inspire me, I’m just thrilled you dig the dinos… Your compliments truly honor me, Thank you!

As for the moroccan skin, I don’t have the original doc that the image I posted is from, as that went POOF when my last computer died. But I do have a doc i made you with the skin material and some lights you can play with. I hope you get some good use out of them…Just load the file as a document in Z-Brush and the materials will load in. Save the materials and the lights and have a blast…

Dickie

Peter,

Better yet, play with this skin shader and light rig. It is my favorite for human type characters. Again, load the document in Z-Brush, as a document, and save the skin shader, Eye shader, and light setup. I think you shall enjoy it greatly. And don’t forget to post your results. I wanna see 'em…

Dickie

Very nice work Dickie! :+1: :+1:

Thanks, Roger…

nice! I like a triceratops… looks great!

Yea Dickie.

Arturo! Glad to see you still use my plastiline mat… I still use it too. Hope all is well with you…

Aser: Thanks. The triceratops is one of my favorite dinos. A very cool creature…

Kris! How the hell are ya, Bro? I miss you!

hi Dickie! I thought I accidently clicked the wrong thread when I saw the dinos loading…then saw a head or two pop up and new I didn’t! Cool…dig the
creatures as much as the heads! Hope all is well on the west coast.
