    Default new screens..

so I just tinkered a bit adding wrinkles n stuff.. basically the stuff I know I don't need to do at this stage in the model.. but I'm the type who has an idea and has to see some of it realized while its fresh in his head.. lol

so here we have two renders but I added a depth pass to each of them..
    Test Scene Overlay.jpg
    Demon Nurse Render.jpg
I'm hoping this looks better than a box model at this stage.. at least a little bit better.

    Hope you guys like it.

Crits and comms welcome! Tell me what you think would be a cool addition to the image.

I'm going to add some of those overhead lamp thingys, but instead of surgical lamps, they are going to be giant knives n cool gizmos like that.

You might work on the sculting a little more:
Her arms - especially the upper arms are very thin. On the other hand her face looks really bulky and undefined. Try to get the overall proportions right and then go ahead and do some detailing.
Her lips are very thin. I don't know if that's what you're aiming for but still: try to define them a little more. In general: get reference photos or models and try to mach these, first.

Her dress hovers a few centimeters abover her body. that's something you should avoid, too. Foremost it stands out and looks unnatural. Then again it also fattens her body which doesn't fit the proportions too well, either.

Regarding the pose - it looks weird that her hands are stiff like the ones from an action figure. try bending the fingers in a more natural way, as well.

It's a solid start but there's still lots of work to do ...

    Default Thanks Sickness!

Hey sickness! Thanks for the feedback. She's still a WIP but I know I have lots more sculpting and shaping to do. At this point I'm mostly just trying to play around with the image compositing. I don't do much of it, so I'm trying to get a feel for using AO and overlaying it ans seeing the effects, etc etc..

I still have to add the remainder of scene stuff, then I'll be going over the entire set and character, detailing/polypainting.etc..

As for the face though.. ehh.. aside from the teeth, and ears, the facial structure is based on my fiancee.. :/ lol...

    UPDATE -
Started banging away at the dress, shaping it closer to her.. Tricky biz.. I'm starting to realize why I never made female models before. For me, at least, its much less difficult to think of mean/ugly things than to design a dress! Lol

If the fiancee hadn't asked that I make this, I don't know that I would have. Lol

I also repositioned the hand and am preparing a clipboard for it. The hand on the waist wasn't working for me from the angle she was in, so thanks for the suggestion, Sickness, you were right. She's not a GI Joe.

Ill posrt some pics in a bit.

    UPDATE UPDATE -
Here's the MAX low poly scene

    Here's what I've worked on... Update.jpg
    What do you think Sickness?

Here's an update on the WIP.

I touched up the hand positions and made the dress a bit more form fitting.
I want to finish all the remaining assets before I start giving her details.. facial detail and dress wrinkles.. body muscle sculpting etc..

I'm going to add a stone wall background to give it a high tech hospital within dungeouny hell look, lol

Okay I tweaked her skin shader a bit and started adding in my hard surface assets.. the sharp stuff hanging above..

I'm going to be posting a tutorial on my page soon showing how I go about creating hard surface models, such as machine parts, knives etc..

    Hard Surface Model asset.jpg

I still have to add the ekg monitor, more shark things, and a surgical tray filled with creepy goodies..

cubanb82 I found my way to your post because Piggy was overly harsh on my thread also. what he doesnt seem to understand is that we are here for fun and help. not because our Boss need to look over out work. Piggy posts like he's the boss of your project, saying things that may be true but in at way thats unacceptable. Unless he is your boss, or paying your check. Also i didnt find what he said all that helpful for how negative he is. all "this sucks that sucks" but none "you can fix it by doing..." whatever. hes already getting a reputation for it. Id'e love to see some of his work...

This is how to CC some one....

    cubanb82:
I enjoy the feeling that your image is trying to convey. that table is DEFIANTLY not a place i want to go lay down on. I would consider removing the platform and adding 2 wall in the back of the room.
Your nurse is a good start. So far she is the center of attention in your image. Shes also the least finished looking. Her dress would really benefit by some wrinkles. There are tuts here in this forum for clothing wrinkles. She would also benefit by an expression on her face of some sort. a scowl maybe. nothing to crazy since you wont seeing a close up of her face i assume. Her biceps are not running into her armpit correctly. I sugjest looking into some anatomy lessons available by Gnomon. I recommend the Form of Anatomy series. Its totally worth the cost of the download. $20 if i remember right.
dont be afraid to slow down. I go forward and back in subdivision countless times wile sculpting. most of the time staying under 4 levels using the move tool to tweek things. Remember the alt key will move things along the surface normal with the move brush, suuuper handy. Your character also looks like shes falling backwards. i assume shes stepping back to usher you in but it just isn't readying right. If she was stepping, her hips and shoulders would be tilted. I feel that transposing this would be a drag for you so my advice would be to plant both her feet solidly on the floor. Character posing is not easy and would be a good project just on its own.

what helped me get better was simplifying my projects GREATLY. If you want to get better at zbrush, my advice is to stop working on scenes for a wile. just make busts. just upper torso with head no arms. for the first several dont spend more then 6 hours on. the object here is to learn the tools, anatomy, and dont get bogged down with mistakes that you made early on in your model. just start a new model learning from your mistakes. You'll find that after 4 or 5 busts your sculpting will have improved immensely, and if you choose to return to this project you will be able to tell "your self" where your model sux and where to improve it.

    edit:
Going to add a few more things.
I viewed your youtube vids. You sound like a smart guy who knows his stuff, so i "can" understand why you don't like always hearing bad crits. y question is, why isnt your work better? It clear by viewing some of your better works that you CAN make great work. I think that you are going through something that im just getting out of, and that is always thinking to big and rushing rushing rushing. I'll use yore nurse as an example. you said on your youtube vid that you made her the day before. she looked about the same as she does in your pics in this forum. work done in that short of a time is purely a draft the posing and sculpting of the forearms was done to early. The whole body should have the same level of detail sculpted into it across the whole surface. not some detail here.. some there..
stop being satisfied with half done work. before you move on stop and go back and do 2x or even 10x more on what you though as done. my last project has been teaching me this. check it out. Everyones work can ALWAYS be better. You will never get better if you think you're the best.

    keep it up!!

    Default WIP update...

Alrighty guys! I just uploaded another tutorial and it covered the methods used to create the hard surface assets I used to create some of the stuff in this scene.

I know I ask for crits and comms.. but I'm not sure how these posts are supposed to work. I keep getting suggestions for stuff I already intend to do.. is there any way of stopping this? lol.

we cant read your mind what is your game plan? whats done what isnt? what are you planning on returning to for detail? why are you choosing to lay out everything in zbrush and not max?

the back wall you added, looks like a temp placeholder. Don't be satisfied with this push it to the next level. Push Push!! Thats all everyone here is asking you to do. Step it up.!! dont use all the cool short cuts that Zbrush gives you, with out pushing it to the next level..

    Push it!!

    Your enthusiasm is infectious Mcgregor!

    To answer your questions..

    1. the game plan is to make a scene with a demon woman in a hellish operating room.. lol.. purely for fun.

    2. Nothing is done. I build all the assets FIRST, then detail.. occasionally detailing a bit here and there just to satisfy my curiosity.

    3. Everything IS layed out in MAX then transferred to Zbrush, lol. I model all the assets there and then bring them into ZB... see my latest tutorial as an example (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpv1AREavwk).

    4. I appreciate your desire to push, but It's not too necessary, lol. I don't ask for crits and comms to get help. I do it because its apparently encouraged. If there's one thing I've learned its that a poster will get crits even if not asked.. So I just ask for them so I don't get mad when I get ones I don't ask for. When piggy was harsh, I sort of asked for it by being too agressive with my thoughts.

Not To be disrespectful, trust me, the one thing I know is not to be malicious on forums.. nobody takes your side, so I'll just say that I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I like your work too! Very nice!

McGregor, again thank you for the comms, however, its a bit presumptuous to assume I'm satisfied with incomplete work.

Just saying. You don't know me or my work flow, so its sort of making a call without all the facts.

In any event, you know how you like to work and it clearly works for you, and that is rocking.

I work a certain way and never ask others why they aren't doing better because its not my place. For all I know their best work is copyrighted by the people who payed them to make it. As is the case with myself.

Again not trying to be rude. I reaspect you all and just wish to not have my work judged before its complete.. This is a place to share our WIP.. Which means they are still in progress and ever changing. In fact I never intended to do anything more than make the nurse.. The rest just happened. I felt the urge to add more..

There is no right way to make this stuff.. No art is ever complere. Just abandoned...

But I'm not avandoning it just yet. Lol.

It's getting a hell of a lot better than it was, mate.

Good stuff! It'll look bloody awesome (pun not intended) by the time it's finished.

thanks Sean. lol. There's a method to my madness.. but it's discouraging in a way.. it's almost confusing.. you have to post works in progress to get feedback.. and if you have the whole thing in your head and you KNOW you can get it out.. but everyone basically says.. you need to be better noob... when you know you aren't one.. but yet.. you still keep going.. but the more negative the comments the less jazzed you get.. which makes some people less apt to want to keep going with a piece.. which THEN validates the communities assertion that they are no good.. ay yay yay.. lol

I'm just trudging through while the whole community except you and I think Cherib Rock are the only ones who like at least a few portions of my work, lol.

    Thanks for that! ZBrush Document.jpg
