The way it works: when you do something that other people like you get good grades, when you do something you like and is not standard you get bad grades. So you have to decide whether you want to do what others like or what you like, maybe what you like is to please other people so there you go hehe. I do what I like, and as soon as I start a thread I give myself one star because the rating couldn't bother me less. And yeah, there are a lot of people conforming to standards, and give grades comparing your work to the trends. It sucks if you haven't got the gut and love for your work I personally like your work, the dog and and the old man comp has a very powerful nostalgic emotion, however you pay attention to the detail, but anatomy is a bit off, so if you did a jewel collection, you'd probaably get 4 or 5 star ratings imo.

    good luck!

    Default i think..

You're the only person who likes my work cherub! Lol. You and my youtube subscribers, at least. Lol

Concerning the old man comp.. That was a piece I was asked to do, actually. It was a pic for a tshirt saying.. "Could be worse.. I could be addicted to Meth"

I thought it was a colorful way to make a point lol. But without the captionan I suppose it does seem rather harsh.

I appreciate your feedback because you address me very kindly.. As such, I must ask, which model needs more anatomical research? I'm sincerely curious. Most of my work is inspired by pro bodybuilders. Lol. I think this guys is pretty correct.. .. meh ..

Hi, no problem all humanoid models need more anatomy studying, I would suggest Sobotta's anatomy atlas, you can torrent download it easily of course or buy the book If you're downloading be sure to get the scan of the book version, I got the german one, cause english that I've been able to find was a programmed atlas and not the same quality.

I think some kind of filigree (?) would be your fastest way to good grades, such as jewellery, I'm basing this theory on the details on the back of the head of that green alien cyborg and the alien Alien's body, also this doesn't require much anatomy studying. Just a thought of course

Default Update on my version of LINK..

Here's an update to the current model I'm working on.. Making Link a bit tougher than I remember. lol

    l_1e2c75632bec417496b765567049e7c2.jpg

UPDATE - Two hours later... hes almost done.. The base meshes were modelled in MAX and then taken into Zbrush for detailing.

    CharacterStrip.jpg
The drawing my nephew gave me to base it off of was only fron the torso up, so sorry.. no lower half.. lol

Hope you guys like it. I'd hope that would get me at least another HALF of a star :/..

I'd tone down Link's muscles quite a bit. His character isn't really known for being ripped. I'd also make his face less chiseled and manly. I'd almost lean his face toward something slightly feminine. He kind of has that ambiguous Manga quality to him in the illustrations I've seen. He's a pretty boy, not Conan

    Default Final Render

I call this one "Bringer Of Doom"

He was initially a low poly model for FPSC but I liked him so much I thought I'd make him into a portfolio piece.
    Bringer Of Doom.jpg
The mesh was built in MAX, refined in ZP, textured in ZB and Photoshop, and then rendered in ZB and composited in Photoshop.

I don't know your background or skill level here, but just from reading this thread, it sounds like you just need to learn to take a crit. You dont seem to take it very well. I am sure this is useless to say on a forum, that is why I usualy dont. But earlier you asked why the rating is so low, and I assume it is because people read through the thread and see that you only like it when people say something that they like about your stuff. That is what I see.

You dont have to have the most amazing sculpt or work on here for people to enjoy a thread, it is usualy the ones where people have good atitudes and will take any help to be better. Thats my two cents.

Anyway, I would say in genral, you just need to learn more about form and rythm in your figures, not that you dont have an understanding of where muscles might be, but overall there seems to be a lack of understanding structure, and some basic things about scultping the figure.

Default :/ What the hell is it with the work JUST?!? I always spell it Jsut! lol

Hi Katon.. I'll accept that, I suppose.

My biggest thing is I'm used to people putting me down. So I get defensive. Sorry.

    Thanks for the feedback

No hard feelings at all, man. Consider however that when someone posts their work on an art forum, especially ZBC where feedback is so prevalent, that a desire for constructive criticism is implied. I mentioned what jumped out at me - I've been getting and giving CC for so long it's an automatic reaction at this point. Most people get bent out of shape if they aren't getting ENOUGH feedback. Oh well, my apologies if I ruffled any feathers.

    Default Hey Dustin!

I just need to remember that people aren't attacking my work. Thanks for even taking the time to write.

I apologize for being an ass.

I am sort of astonished at your response just there. You started out alright, but ended up looking as if you have quite the chip on your shoulder when imparted sound advice from a professional. Bad form. Perception is everything. When you ask why your thread is rated poorly and then proceed to explain you will never change you hit rock bottom pretty quick.

If you do not want criticism on your art consider not posting on a public forum in which critiques are encouraged.

That said, I hope to see you continue working at the sculpting thing. You've got a lot of enthusiasm--just channel it correctly.

If you dont like critiques or feedback, how do you expect to improve?
