    Default Character and Creature Sketchbook

    Hi guys!

I think it's time to start a new sketchbook and show my WIP on some of my personal projects. I will be eventually showing some of my fresh ideas as well so I can getsome feedback from you guys.

This one is from last months Hardcore Modeling Challenge over at Cgtalk. The theme was 80s cartoon so I though I would do a design of Leonardo and Rocksteady.

Rocksteady was sculpted in Zbrush and painted over at Photoshop. It was more of a concept design for the actual 3d model I'm going to create.

ok awesome however i do have 1 major complaint

the nose structure on the turtle is too much like a primate, it looks like a green gorilla as opposed to a turtle

turtles don't have any real 'nose' to speak of, they have something more in line with a beak structure

Yeah I agree with the nose but it was a personal decision to add one since I wanted them to be more human already and I also added five fingers instead of the usual three. Also you are spot on with the gorilla thing because I referenced their nose and a human nose and kinda try to balance it out.

This was the old render that I submitted. I didn't really have time to play with textures and shaders because it was a modeling challenge, but I'm in the process of doing it now.

So here is the old render and the some zbrush orthographic renders.

There still alot of work to like the shell and the katana swords. The swords are still placeholders and there still some straps to define.

I've never really thought about how scary a giant humanoid turtle holding a sword would be before.

You know, your color pose and lighting just rocks. Really nice style in your character design and modeling.

    Love it.
