Hi again. I've started learning mental ray in maya today, and this is what I've managed to accomplish so far. I still have a couple of issues though, and would appreciate any help I can get! I tried applying textures (polypaint) through the fast sss skin shader and they came translucent. Anyone?
This is most apparent around the eyes where shuld be a thick black paint layer, but thorought the face as well, cause there's much more color variation in the polypaint.
ps the model was used just for learning sake, and is not yet finished.
adjust your shader. you need to turn down translucence.
If you wouldn't mind, could you post a Zbrush render of the model with the polypaint as well? I'd like to see the differences in the render quality.

Yo yo! Thank you Dustin! I like it's design the best of all things considering the LOTR (movies that is ) I had only one reference, from the 3rd one, where it has a mask on so I improvised moslty the whole of the head, only to find there were references without the mask, and those eyes are nothing like mine and that would be no problem if I didn't like them better than my design But what the hey, I'll try to push it my way and see what comes out
