good start. My suggestion to anyone just staring ZBrush is to work out your forms at a low sub-d level and only go up when your satisfied what you've done and the proportions look right. It looks to me like you started this at 2 mil+ polys and that's why this has that playdoh look. Also I can see the exact places you used the move tool, so you'll need to use a lot of smooth brush. Are you using a tablet? If not I highly recommend it, my own work got 100x better after I bought a tablet.

thankyou for your thaughts... yes i have a tablet but i have trouble using it since it creates all sorts of artifacts when i use it. even when i set my stroke spacing really low and mouse smoothing and etc.

does anyone know any golden rules for using a tablet with zbrush?

What sort of artifacts? Post an image of it and maybe we can help. Have you messed with the tablet options in the zbrush preferences? Using a tablet is almost imperative. Maybe try downloading the newest drivers for it.
