    Default t.i.c's dumping ground

Hi all. A very long time since I last posted work - which was then my first attempt. Since then, I have tried quite a few different little projects to learn the various aspects of zbrush. This is the first of my results, and I hope to post some more if i ever feel they are presentable! Hopefully you will be able to see some sort of progress. I don't get to use this fantastic program as much as I would like as I am a compositor by trade so it's more of a hobby than a tool I get to use regularly. But thanks to the amazing art and all the great tips and tricks i find on here every day, i have at least learned the basics.

Anyway, here is my first installment in my dumping ground - it is a speed sculpt that started as an exercise in using the pinch brush and also served as a render test for different materials. Base mesh from Blender. No polypainting done. Render passes from zbrush and comp in nuke.

    C&C most welcomed!

    Thanks for looking.

...and here is a screen grab of the sculpt.

    Default Greenlantern Wip

    Hi again,

So here's a new WIP i'm working on. It's my first shot at sculpting anatomy, and to complicate it for myself, I went and posed it first so have been sculpting asymmetrically, which I know is not wise for a beginner and has caused me a few issues! Still it has been fun so far. Been using Alex Ross' fantastic illustrations as reference - still haven't nailed the expression and the feet and hands in particular need a lot of work. And the polypaint is still rough also.
Any C&C would be greatly appreciated, particularly in relation to proportions or anatomy.
    Thanks for looking.

    Default Thing Bust

    Hi all,

A quick speed sculpt of Thing, mainly to play with using masks to sculpt the cracks etc and also to try some different render settings.

Not 100% happy with it - a fair bit of stretching and don't think I got the right 'rock' feeling from the material, but that's why it's just a speed sculpt, right?!?!

Any C&C would be great, cos I'm sure I'm doing lots wrong, as I stumble my way through this program!!

    Thanks for looking.

Thanks for your reply HiPi. Yeah since I was just experimenting with a few things, I took it as far as I could without retopo! It's lazy, I know but wanted to move on and learn something else.

    Default A change of pace...

    Hi

I was getting a bit frustrated with my sculpting so I wanted to try something different. I started with a Sphere3D and got into playing with masking by rows and columns and trying different deformations, and got to this flower shape. Only brush used was the smooth brush (but the stem is a subtool).

Some parts look more organic than others, but I like where this technique is heading...

    Any C&C appreciated!

cherub_rock (wicked song!) - Thanks. Yeah, not the most imposing of transformers! I assume it would fall into the category with the Transformer that turned into an camera!

HiPi - Thanks again! I was just mucking around with combining different matcaps in PS and I think the key to that comp is the eroded yella metal matcap I got from the download center

Really nice to get some responses! Thanks guys.

    Default Paintover

Ok, I know what you're thinking - not another hulk!!! This is a Photoshop paintover (in the days before Paintstop) I did of a wip model I am working on. I like to jump ahead and play with matcaps and colours and keep the concept evolving while I'm sculpting. I'm not sure if I'll stick with these colours or go for a Red Hulk rendition. Either way really trying to head towards a Dale Kweon inspired result. The model is very wip and I will post screen grabs after a bit more work. Think of this more as a concept post.
I'd love any C&C or suggestions on direction etc.
