This looking pretty cool, and I like where your putting the muscles so far. I have a small critique though. The forearm (or front legs seeing as he has six ligaments) are a bit off. I did a quick sketch-over of some things you may want to consider when you continue modeling your character.

Right now it seems like there is a bone jutting out where the tarsus and metatarsus bones meet. I have a couple of awesome anaimal anatomy books and I'll get a few scans up tomorrow or at least before the weekend. Everything else is looking great, I love the planes you've established on his chest. Keep up the great work!

No problem Marco! Took me a couple days - I've been busy with school :P but here are some scans from an awesome book called "An Atlas of Animal Anatomy for Artists" - by W. Ellenberger, H. Dittrich, and H. Baum but Ellenberger is the main anatomical artist.

Both pages show some excellent examples of muscle and skeletal overlays. I know this may be waaaay more indepth anatomy than you want for your model, but your model is looking awesome and I can't wait to see it finished!

Added the stone snake tail, the spine with the opening at the center to reveal the lava inside, and started on the armor and trying to figure out a style for the armor thats not too cheesy or over the top.

Well basically all i did was mask on the main body where i wanted the armor, use the extract mesh option in the subtool menu, sculpt the basic shape that works with the flow and proportions of my character, then I exported the mesh into maya, rebuilt the armor mesh with clean quads, re-import them back in zbrush to do the finer details. I would say doing a quick sketch before you build anything is your best bet, it helps you figure out how you will build it. Hope that helps and thanks for the comments.

Ah i see your a maya user like myself : D. But how did u sculpt like the outside portion of the armor, the border lines , they are so clean, did u do that in maya too? And then just use zbrush to add the circle nail parts?

    Default Wip 6

Here is Wip 06, probably the last Wip till final submissions on tues, I forsee no sleep or socializing this weekend, still got to do the links and chains and the weapon.

    wip6.jpg

I get the beveled edges around the outside just use the clay brush and flatten brush and lots of smoothing. To get that tight line just on the inside, I masked the inside, invert selection and inflat, I use it alot for different things.

Finished his weapon and other bits and pieces. Going to finalize the low poly, cull all uneeded or unseen polys and add as much linkage as needed and poly limit allows.

looking good so far, although I've got to say- the 'lava cracks' look is VERY overused lately. hope you're not planning on making him glow heh
