Default Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

    Hi everybody,

This is my last project: Nausicaa.

Nausicaa is a low poly character created with Zbrush, 3D max and Photoshop software.

She have 9772 tris and two maps of 2048, one for the complete body and other for the head and the hair, with difusse, spec and normal, and for the head a opacity map as well.

I did the rifle separately. It has 1379 tris, with a Difusse Spec and Normal maps of 2048. Zbrush was very useful for make all the trimmings and the signs but the shape was defined in max.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is a Japanese animated film from 1984, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki based on his manga of the same name. The movie narrates the story of Nausicaä, the princess of a small nation who lives in a world devastated by a holocaust called the "Seven Days of Fire". She tries to stop other warring nations from destroying themselves and from destroying the only means by which their world can be saved from the spread of polluted wastelands.

I hope you will enjoy it. And thanks everybody for the replys and comments.

Great model, really tasteful details. Good re-styling of the original character.
(BTW, I just bought a dvd box set of Studio Ghibli and I'm really loving them these days. It may be Nausicaa's turn tonight)

I have to agree with jaystein777, although the model and texturing alone are pretty superb, the face fails to convince me that I'm not looking at a rather attractive cosplay actress instead of Nausicaa. I believe that perhaps softening a bit more the hard edges of her face (the nose expecially), or reshape her hairstlye into something a little bit less sofisticated-looking than the one she is currently sporting will definetely do. Please, don't take my words as a gratuitous rant coming from a hardcore fan of the Anime (& Manga) , upset by your interpretation of Nausicaa....'cause, this is definetely not the case. I know that it's not an easy task whenever a translation or a re-styling of an original character is attempted.... so definetely for the effort alone, a tip of my hat to you sir! (damn! I don't see any smiley's icon tipping its hat off while I'm writing this, oh, well...a thumbs up will do?)
