I bet you're enjoying yourself sculpting it right now.
I like your second concept too. Again, very classic Marvel. Nice stuff.

I'm enjoying it, though, still being a ZBrush novice, it's a bit of a struggle: Had to wait for a while for the Mac version, so I've got much to learn yet. Appreciate the compliment about the classsic Marvel look. He's going to go through lots of changes before he's done, though. Believe it or not, I'm still not 100% fixed on the name, or the costume - only his powers are etched in stone.

Edit: oh and the hips and waist seems a little awkward as well. keep up the good work webhead.

Thanks for the crits, Gohanf22. Don't worry too much about the body proportions at this stage. He's gonna have several changes before it's over.
I definitely plan to exploit his ability to expand parts of his body at will in the final sculpt.

WOW! Really loving the story, concept and design! Nice intro with the comicbook cover, awsome job! I can't wait to see more of your work and style in zbrush! This should be pretty cool!

Thanks Limitless_Thought2207 for the encouragement. Progress is slower than I hoped it would be. I had to rework parts of my zsphere mesh a bit, begin building up my mesh again, and now I am plugging away at it slowly but surely. Really far behind behind the pack right now.

Hi there, Webhead, this new ZSphere construct's looking solid. The base mesh is also looking good. I look forward to its transformation to GAMUT

Webhead - I would start to relax him a little bit, I find that helps with my sculpts. To have the hands a little more relaxed, the back, shoulders, etc. It gives the character life and makes it more interesting to look at, which in turn makes you want to make it come to life. I find if the characters are always so stiff and all T-posed that I loose interest in the sculpt even if the character concept is the shiznittle. Just a piece of advice, take it or leave it.

The new zsphere base is looking good. You might have some problems if you ever want to export him and rig and animate with the way his crotch area is constructed. Zspheres at the hip should have a grav-sphere to pull that area away and create "propper" topology. Anyway, since this piece isn't for the animation side you're all good. Just letting you know if you plan to save your zSphere mesh to use over and over again. Kit bashing rules.

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if you're just rendering in an orthographic view or sculpting it in. But I never ever ever sculpt without perspective on. It also helps to have perspective on when you do renders so others can better judge the form of your sculpt. Anyway, i'm done with my rant. Keep up the good work.

    SolidSnakexxx: Thanks!

goast666: Thanks much for all the helpful tips! I really appreciate it. As I try to make the jump from just a zdoodler to a zbrusher - I can really use all the advice I can get.
I was worried about the buttocks, and crotch, but wasn't sure quite how to fix that area other than exporting the mesh into another 3d modeler. I'm already sculpting him as a polymesh, so I guess I can't add a grav sphere to the crotch at this point. Ideally, I would like to animate him, but I had assumed I would have to retop him anyway to do that. I also figure I should put him in his final dramatic pose early in the modeling process to avoid having to rebuild too much of him.

Very little progress so far, but I need to put something up. So, here's some upper back detailing. Just too much going on in my life, not enough time to learn ZBrush, and work on my Superhero. Sorry folks, I don't want to, but If I can't get more time on this guy, I just may have to drop out of the contest and finish him at my own pace.

looking good so far, sad to hear about possibly having to drop out of the contest, but eh. Better to learn and retain the info if you ask me.

The back is looking good, a bit exaggerated I would say, smooth it all back a little. Also the "v" in his traps and the top of the back is a little too hard angled.

You said you were working on the back so I won't go into too much on his triceps, but they need to have all three "tri" pieces of the muscles...and are currently very very over defined. But then again, I am going off my workflow. Some people like to build out every muscle crazy exaggerated and then tone it all back down later.

Anyway, keep up the good work, you're making great leaps from Zdoodler to Zbrusher.
