Pluie: Thank you. Hee hee, the reference with Mantis costume is a big help I want one of that suites.

    gang: Thank you, sir.

avtart20: That's very kind of you to post the trick here..and Thank to Slosh as well for the trick on your thread. This would come in handy when needed.

gregoconn: I'm at the moment going for the subtool route (at least the raptorial limb is a separate subtool at the moment) and hopefully the ability to have more poly count would work to my benefits.

aiman: Yes, I'm thinking about going the style you posted! Where did you get the reference from? Is it from the movie The Fly? Hopefully in my hero, he'd be less demonic (organic) and looks more agile.

neozerahan: Yes, I can't wait to go home after work for the ZB session as well. Wouldn't it be great if we don't have daytime job but getting paid for it?

    Question Torso Choices

JUPITER: I'll lend you one limb

Anyhow today I was able to do a quick session after work...I wish to have more time to do the sculpting fun. Pressing on time, I didn't do other parts, except the torso area. I hope it being not Humanly anatomy is alright by the rules. I have come up with 2 possible choices one fully covered in exoskeleton and the other half way cover. I might go for the full exo version what do you guys think?

I would keep it simple. I like the second part. You could also have human and exo flowing into each other randomly. This looks really great. keep up the good work!

This is a nice idea. I would go for the full body exo and it might be nice to have fleshy fibres between the plates in places you could also work larger areas of this into certain spots. Could possibly be a weakpoint amongst all the protective surface maybe...

I like the the full cover. I have a hard time picturing how the half cover would work. Great design work on this guy so far.

I would go half exoskeleton and half human as your sketch shows. The reason being that the design would much more interesting and seeing the human side integrating with the mantis side would make for a great contrast modeling wise. The trick would be to balance the design of those elements.

But I do like what you have done with the torso!

DAnconia: Thanks for your kind input. I'll do a separate sculpt with him half exo one day (Kind of like his half way to become Mantis Man.)

MINTY: Thank you. I also would love to see how he'd end up looking like as my concept sketch has him pretty loose.

malc2304,Harmonic: Thank you so much guys, I've made my decision to go for the full exoskeleton route. Here's a quick Animated GIF from subdiv 1

    1.gif

During the sculpt It I was going back and fourth a lot between subdiv....as the design's not locked down...Now I know why ZBrush is such a great creative tool to flesh out ideas even during the sculpting phase.

Thats looking really great. I think that the exo plates should be a little more rigid though. it will make them look much stronger. there just looking a little to rounded.
