Thanks guys! I updated Mr. Black using Z4. Loving the new brushes but having a hard time with the armor. Still need to get better with hard surface in zbrush, any tips welcome!

The best thing you could do in order to take full advantage of the new features in Z4, would be to try and keep the individual pieces of armor separate, instead of sculpting them all on one piece.

What you've got would really work just fine. I do the same thing for armor most of the time. Just use the standard brush, with a small brush size, to draw in the borders of the different pieces. Then use something like clay tubes to build up the surface. finishing off with the flatten or polish brushes to smooth the surface. (rinse and repeat)

Seeing some alien sculpts on here I noticed how the last few were based on the "alien resurrection" design by ADI. Although the sculpts themselves looked good due to the incredible talent on this forum the design itself in that movie left for much to be desired. I decided to do an alien based on the only real good design by H.R. Giger. I'm trying to match his sculpt and eventually pose it out. Here's my WIP using BPR.

Seems alot of people here have taken to doing predators now! Whelp, heres another one I'm working on with my first real attempt to do hard surface in zbrush. The armor started out as an masking mesh extract that I later shadow boxed and used polish and trim dynamic on.

Thanks! I did the scales on a layer using the clay tubes brush with the brush depth modified up a bit. Then I messed with the numerical value of the "Scales" layer till it looked to where I liked it.

Nothing wrong with that, they are popular characters that many of us grew up with .

    Great progress, keep it up!

oh, no doubt. im working on a hulk at the moment, and there are currently 3 hulk wip threads on zbc as we speak, not counting mine. hehe. i was just saying its all fun. they are great characters to model. if youre going to do a predator or any of the others, atleast eraserhead is making sure its a good sculpt. thats all that matters.

Taking a small break from my pred to do a quick sketch after being inspired by BUSNISMANPATRIOT and his videos using the same technique shown in his thread.
