Default Sam Kaminski - Realtime Model

    Hail to the Sam, baby!

I initially created Sam as a design pitch. What you're seeing is the realtime model rendered in Mental Ray. I used three 1k textures. With all the replaceables, he's at 14k polys.

I'll post some more model shots, hiPoly Renders and so on when I find the time to comp it all together. Hope you guys like him, I even wrote a small story snippet before I designed him that actually explains his prosthetic and the missing finger.

My buddy Holger helped me with the Mental Ray setup.

Any tid-bits of info regarding the Mental Ray setup that you would care to impart?

@Darukin: Yeah, about his finger: I actually wrote a complete backstory for him and I came up with the lost ringfinger during that process.

@abyss: I used ZBrush for painting textures for Sams head, but the cloth textures were all done in Photoshop.

@smeagol: Haha, thanks, yeah, I hope that's a good thing I tried to copy what Frank Miller / KNB has done with the headshape a bit, to get an easily recognizable silhouette for the face. There's a lot going on detail-wise, so I wanted to keep the silhouette simple to make the whole thing still readable.

@Dustin: I'll try to get Holger to post some info about it here. I think it was a pretty simple setup in XSI, he did that in like... a night or something

Hope you guys like Sam, really appreciate the support! I thought about posting the character script too, but I'll probably do that next time around with another character of mine and present him in a proper way.
