    Default ghost-d sculpting (practice) thread

    Hello, everyone!
I´ve been watching you guys for quite a long time, but this is my first thread here on ZBrushCentral. Seems that sculpting is really the best way to get things done faster and better than with polygonal modeling, so I started practicing ZBrush like a week ago, and I´d like to get some crits and advice to get better, so here I am. And so are my latest two (so far the best) sculpting attempts I did in ZBrush.

    xportkickingbird01nn0.JPG
my attempt on Kicking Bird from Dancing With Wolves.

    xportjohndunbar01ji5.JPG
and John Dunbar (Kevin Costner), same movie.

this is my basemesh I started from

I know it´s a little too early to see some perfect likeness, but I´m going to try hard to get better.

So, see you guys later with some more.

Thank you for comment, kansuke. You´re right about the chin.
I´ll try to post some more characters later.

    Update!

I made me a new basemesh later so here´s my test of the mesh:

    xportbasetest01in8.JPG

And here´s a sculpt I did from the mesh later:

    xporthenrylike01yf0.JPG

Now I try to work on some anatomy and playing with the ZSpheres, so I´m not depending on basemeshes anymore. I´ll have something to show later (and maybe also some timelapses).

    Hello again!

Trying another technique. I saw couple people here using cube-like basemeshes so I gave it a shot and seems that it works quite well for me.

    Here´s just a test sculpt:

    xportcubebasetest01ng2.JPG

And an early wip of John Goodman (I´m going for him like he was in "O Brother, where art thou". I´ll give him the eyepatch later ):

And finally the basemesh next to the later results:

    Cheers, people!

Just a quick update on the John Goodman sculpt:

Still needs a lot of work to be done around the mouth and eyes to get the likeness.

    Hey!
So, finally I got to upload some screengrabs of a new sculpt. This time I was recording a timelapse, so see the link below. I´m going for Robert De Niro from Midnight Run.

Here´s screengrab from latest phase of the sculpt you can see in the timelapse video linked below.

And here´s what I´ve got at the moment:

Something I did to relax from the heads:

Very wip, I did it quite quickly. I got inspired by Fabricio Torres´s Hulk.

i've been playing with zbrush for a while now. I decided to leave my TD stuff at work and go back to my roots..Your work really inspires me!

Really cool stuff, from the first few faces to the John Goodman face! You can see a great amount of work that you have put, and therefore an impressive amount of signs of how much you have progressed! Nice job! Keep it up!

Thank you very much, raulxpt. I´m glad that someone likes my stuff. I´ll sure post some more! It isn´t very difficult to learn some techniques in this community of such talented people. Hope I´ll see some of your works here on ZBCentral soon!

I´m going for George Clooney from "O brother, where art thou". Still very early stage - I´m recording timelapse video with this one too.

    Default Major Update!

    Hello, everyone!
It´s been quite a long time since my last post. This update was supposed to involve a lot more stuff, but with the time some of the things I was saving for this update became not worth of showing. But even though I think that I could call this „major update“. So here we go:
    1.jpg

This one´s still WIP and I´m going to come back to this eventually:
    2.jpg

Head for my samurai sculpture (the ears need a bit of tweaking). The rest of the body (mostly armour) is almost done too, so I should post the whole figure soon:

    4.jpg

Looking forward to crits and comments, and see you with update soon!

    Time for update:
As I said in my earlier post, I´ve had the body/armor (most of the work was really done in Max) of the samurai quite finished. So here are some screenshots:

    xportsamurai01ko6.JPG

I´m not quite satisfied with the overall look right now, because at first the upper part of the body looked better than the lower one, so I tryed to improve it and now the lower part seems a lot better to me...

Anyway... I felt like I need to work on some organics again and seeing Selwy´s excellent "Disunion" project really pushed me to give it a shot. So I made me a basemesh and here´s what I´ve got so far:

    xportmale01ma7.JPG

It´s more like a test of the basemesh (legs need one or two more loops...)I didn´t spend that much time on this and right now I´m just on 4th subdivision with like 150k polys, so real detailing is still about to come.

    See you later with updates!
