    Default jaysteins Zsculpts

    Hi,
I've got a few Zsculpts going now so instead of making a new thread for each one I'll just make a portfolio thread.

I'll add Nosferatu first, this was created using a Maya plugin I'm working on to create base meshes, and it also uses Subtool Master which is a REALLY useful plugin.

I guess these are all WIP. I'm working on getting Nosferatu into Maya and rendered in Renderman. =)

    Default Daemon WIP

Here's a piece that I've been working on. It's titled Daemon. I created the base Mesh in Maya and the rest is pure ZBrush, it consists of 12 subtools. Thanks to Chris Tackett for the "Deep Bronze" Matcap, an amazing material.

    Default Nosferatu Renders

Here's my first Renederman render, the displacements didn't come acroos as I would've liked, but the shadows and SSS came out fairly well. I'll be giving this render another shot soon. The rest are the more developed ZBrush sculpt and Poly paint.

    Default Psarcopogus:Aeon

Here is some development on the first Zsculpt I posted; Psarcopogus: Aeon.
It seems like ages ago, I guess I've been seriously out of touch.
Here's the original thread, this was my original profile.

Thank you very much, that is a VERY astute description. The Idea behind her is she in a very ancient priestess still harboring secrets yet to be dicovered.

Actually you replied to the right thread. I had to create another profile because I'm locked out of my original.

I used the skin matcap from the original release of ZBrush 3.0 but I tweaked the cavity map. It looked pretty bad until I got the detail levels up high enough.
On these sculpts I used a lot of freehand masking and freehand texturing along with the drag-rect brush and Alphas. The Gnomon Alphas were a real lifesaver.

The Nosferatu is my first poly-painting and I'm really just a beginner so a lot of my technique is slop.

I've been learning ZBrush, Maya, Renderman and Mental Ray for the past 2 years, no wonder I don't get out much.

As I get better and I make some more meaningful stuff and if I find some useful techniques I will post some tutorials, but so far my tecniques are mostly derived from this awesome community, so welcome and just read the crap out of the forums.

For the eye I use the 3-Part eye method. There's a link around here somewhere. I can't find it just yet, but here's pixolators eye tut Eye Tutorial

I really like that skeleton thing you are making. Looks very H.R Giger-esque.

Good set of sculpt works here. I like the Nosferatu head, especially its eyes and the teeth and the blue skin tone's giving me the creeps. The work titled Daemon's quite cool in that Deep Bronze material as well. Look forward for more ZSculpt from you.

Thanks guys, these responses mean a lot. To me these works are labors of love. I'm still learning and my pencil drawings display my abilities much better concerning the human form. While I will continue to work on these projects, I'm going to start some very challenging pieces soon so I will be knocking. with this communities help I'll eventually be satisfied with what I can do in ZBrush.
