Hey, I'm also doing the rounds finding threads by people who were also in the contest. So glad to see you have one! Some amazing work going on here! I followed your Witiko thread as close as I could and was amazed by the quality of your work. I was glad to see you got your entry in on time. Ill be keeping a close eye on this thread also

Etcher-hey thanks,i will keep this thread going until i finish this early man sculpt, want to add some cool hair and accesories, and get it poly painted, with some turntables and the like and post up the bg cooper material that i used for the Witiko and try to make an orginal skin material for him as well. after he's done i'll start a new 2009 thread with some more work, i hope.

SolidSnakexxx-wow, thanks. i have to say that the contest was full of great stuff, its going to be tuff to wittle it down to 10 i think. tuff job for the judges.

petekasim thanks, it was a great experience, but i think that what made it so cool was the open forum and getting to see everyones progress and learn. there is alot that i would do differently for sure after seeing some of the workflows, including using alot more layers and retopolgy.

skullbeast, just a little busy, but its about to get crazy over here with alot of work lined up.

Captain Sensible-thanks, i learned alot from watching you create your pc. i know i have to play with box modeling alot more and get my hard surface stuff looking alot better your thread was a great help with that.

-Here is an update on the early man model, put some eye blanks in and redetailed the face some what in prep for hair and polypaint.

Etcher- thanks and he has about 4.3 mil polys at subdiv 7, man i need help with materials. the last one i a made was a Quad shader for the Razor and i have been using matcaps since then to show off the work. but i really need to get a handle on the material creations, any good tutorials out there?

unbelievable texture work. The skin feels so meaty and thick. The drawn back chin makes him look less intelligent which is a great look for your design. Your skills are sick! you have incredible range from hard to soft surfaces. NICE

Thanks for the answer on the poly stuff : I still can't properly judge how much I need to subdivide; your early man sculpt looks like it has a lot more polygons than 3.7mil, so detailed !

Wish I could help you out with the materials, but I'm still struggling to get my écorché-head sculpt finished- that one will be my first paint/material job. So I guess I' ll just have to see what you come up with in the next few weeks with the materials stuff. Well, I guess you've got the same problem as me: so much to do, so little time! !

Here is quick test of poly paint over the basic shader, with some fog and an overlay of the depth grab in PS.

Thanks Rick. I didn't have any paticular reference to model from, but when i look at him i keep seeing Vindesel or Wanderlei Silva from the UFC. Here is another update a little more work on the polypaint and sebcesoirs kin mat02 from the matcap repositry. I've got to figure out how to do materials!

Here is a new shot with a custom Quad shader started and a little touch of poly on the nose and lips. Still a Wip but its getting there.
