    Default Chips and Snails...WIP

I modeled this snail some time ago in Zbrush2, and just recently put him to render in modo 302. I'd appreciate anyones comments. I think the scene is still lacking, or not working for some reason and I'd love to hear what people think. Thanks for any comments.

Something about the proportions of the snail's head doesn't quite work for me. Otherwise I can't spot any problems. It's a very good render.

Thanks TwitchMonkey -Originally, I had the 'foot' of the snail so it was elongated at the base all the way to the snails head, but I had a great amount of reference, and it seems a snails 'neck' gets slighly rounded when a snail lifts its head up. so I smoothed it out some, maybe too much. I'm thinking now that maybe the way the shadow meets with the edge of the chip also makes it look a little weird. I will see about bringing that back out. Thanks.

Ok, here's an updated version. I redid the surfacing for his body and tweaked a few polys in the 'neck' area. I think it is much better now.

I think it's an improvement. The lighting definitely looks better.

Tiny bit more tweaking, added some DOF and mucked with brightness/contrast and some other stuff. Think I'm gonna call this one done and just move on to somthing else.

    Gorgeous work Typeboy.

Does the subject matter have anything to do with the fact that at about 2012 or 2020 silicon semiconductors will have reached their maximum speed capacity?

The only thing that'd make this more "believable" to me is if the snail was a little more draped over the top chip. The snail's beautiful, but it's almost as if it's hovering right above the top chip rather than slithering over it.
