I'd like to sign up for the class but need to talk to admissions first - I'm going to be moving out to LA soon... So, if I miss this class I'll be sure to take the next one... Hopefully, someone from the school will call me... Brian is impossible to get in touch with!
I'm interested in taking the Professional Studies Program - do you know how many classes that consists of or is it as many as I choose - I'm heading in the modeling direction but, want to know texturing too - Currently taking Paul Fedors, Photo-Real Texturing class and I'd recommend it to anyone that is interested in texturing...

What area of LA is safe... I don't mind traveling because my dog is coming with me and we need a place to walk that is safe... What areas do you recommend me looking at for renting.

Can't wait to get out there and hammer down!

Hey Ryan, I tried sending you a PM but I got the following message:

"ryankingslien has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space."

I also visited your site and was unable to find your email. So, I will call you tomorrow between 5-6 p.m (your time).

Thanks guys! Looking forward to the class this Friday.

I uploaded the course outline for people to check out. It should be a fun time. The first day is all ZBrush stuff. There is a ton of things to cover and I am not 100% sure will get it all done but we'll try!

Day 2 and 3 use a live model named Quante who is very muscular. The first day he will take a default pose and be available for people to study form and structure. We will have little spot lectures on the anatomy and structure of the model. We will also each have an Artist Model from Freedom of Teach to help us get our anatomy right.

Day 3, Quante will take a pose. We will then pose our models and get busy with resculpting it to match.

    I'm excited!

Hello. Its been a while since I posted much here. I have been pretty busy with some other things but as always sculpting, sculpting, sculpting in my free time. I thought I would share a bit of it with everyone.

First, the workshop went very well. I mean really, really, really well. For me it was proof that sculpting can be taught using the computer INSTEAD of clay.

Not that clay is obsolete or anything close to that. In fact, last night, I sculpted in clay from a great local model in LA. There is no substitute for reality, for clay and for a live model. There are only ways to augment that reality. ZBrush is one of those ways.

Here are some of the handouts. Proportions of an 8 head heroic figure:

    Be right back with more,

Looks like a nice strong "How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way" pose in the tradition of John Buscema. Wish the full-figure shot was bigger, though. It's hard to see the little details at that small size. The boots look real good, but the front of the foot doesn't look solidly planted from the side view.

More in-progess images. Here is a close up of the torso and helmut:

Here is a close up of one wing. There is more work to do but this shows the feathers that were used to build the wing. The design is Sideshows here. Fantastic job on the sculpt Sideshow!

I used Slash 2 for the feathers. Very easy to do once you get into the groove of it, so to speak.
