    Default Head study - Badass

Hey folkes, heres something i did sunday as a quick practice for materials and textures. Its rendered in Zbrush in separate passes for the Eye and Skin, and put together in Photoshop along with a sharpen and a color correction.

I was also wondering, if anyone know a way to have several materials along with textures on several subtools at the same time? Now, as soon as i import a image file, the eyes and head get the same Materials.

    Hey looks good.

To get multiple textures on multiple subtools you have to basically convert the textures to polypaint. Except you cant put on different materials for each subtool, unless i dont know a way to.

To turn a texture into polypaint, have highest subd turned on and the tool that u want the texture on selected.... Then go under the tools menu texture - txtr>col, this will then convert the texture onto your model. So once you have done this for all subtools the texture will be turned off in the texture menu. Hope this helps.

I like it. I think the only thing that is really holding it back from being lifelike is the eyes. AYour eyes are leaps and bounds better than mine, but the material used just doesn't have the watery look or the hint of red veins that really make eyes come alive.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind comments, and it seems i cant get the correct image to be selected as a thumb on the forum page! ah!

Twitchmonkey: Yeah im struggling with the eyes, first to find a colour that suits the character, and secondly to get them to look alive and more realistic.

gb_havok: thanks for the tips! i will try this out, and i think with the new Subtool Master, its possible to put different materials on different subtools. i will try and post if it works out

Rodion Vlasov, Ganesh: Thanks guys, i hope i can find motivation to the rest of the body too.

Hey everyone, i gave it a try last night and managed to get several materials on the different subtools it was pretty straight forward really with the help from the community.

    import subtools
make sure colorize is turned on in Texture dropdown
import your texture for the subtool
in Texture drop down, do Texture->Color
    select your material
make sure you have selected M channel instead of the usual RGB or MRGB

Now paint on your mesh and the subtool that is selected should get the material.

Repeat for every subtool and your done
Hopefully this will help anyone else whos stuck with this!

n-drew, frebel, thanks! i will write a bit about how i did that render with my next update

not really "badass", it kinda reminds me of one of my old art tutors.

of course its excellent work (with out the reference to my old tutor)
the eyes seem quite close together, and theskin that flows off the nose seems quite bulgy.
