What to expect when i get out of college in the 3d industry

Hey guys,

I'm currently a senior at Springfield College and I'll be graduating in May 08'. I currently have an internship i'm starting at Xvivo and by the time I graduate I'll be fairly comfortable with Maya/XSI and Zbrush. I'm kinda interested in getting into the game industry since my interests coincide with that kinda stuff, though movies aren't off the list or anything.

So I was wondering what should I expect when I graduate, how hard its going to be to find a job, what to expect for salary and ect. I feel i'm pretty good at what I do for only doing it for a short amount of time and a quick learner if that helps.

I think not a lot of people would be comfortable giving advice which might have a profound effect on your career. Why don't you PM a few of the industry pros, I'm sure one or two will have some advice if they know you're serious. I've been in the film industry too long be un-bias and my views are bound to be subjective.

You should assume that the people who are employed spend more time working than trolling around forums, looking for questions to answer.

So I was wondering what should I expect when I graduate, how hard its going to be to find a job, what to expect for salary and ect.

For games or movies? What area in games or movies are you interested in? If you're not sure, that'd a better thing to look into as opposed to how much you should expect to earn.
