color and texture will change I am sure…

EeeeeeeeeeeeK!

had to do a double take, and look on the floor to make sure one of those critters was not around here!

Great colors, and a cool looking head,

Cant wait to see it with wings

have a good one Ron

Alright bug lovers, here is my WIP of a Jade Mantis. I’m using Abyssis’s wonderful sandstone texture tweaked so it looks like old jade. The mantis looks like what you’d find in a little shop in chinatown…: )

BUT I want to add antennae. The trouble is I can’t! If I add a Z-Sphere to the rig or even
move an existing Z-Sphere too far, All my sculpting goes away! It’s as if I’m starting with a fresh model!

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I thought I saw something about Pose to Pose but I can’t find it anywhere…

Help a fellow Z-brusher, please…: (

Dickie

Hi Dickie
Maybe try this
Save your object as a tool
Close Zb
Restart
Reload your object
Edit it
Hope this help
Pilou

Dickie, if the mesh is dense enough (Mill polys etc) then just mask off a couple of points on the head then pull them out using EDIT>MOVE (similar to the way Pix did the fins on his fish in the video he posted).

Nice one Dickie!

Here’s a good bug picture referance site: www.bugpics.com

And another nice site. www.insects.org. Not as high resolution pictures as the one theride posted.

Hi TVeyes
Soon here Insect.org with other database
I have gave this adress many time ago to Flycatcher
Who don’t reappear abd post for a long time :frowning:
Pilou

Dickie, that Mantis is real cool! I love the way that green sandstone texture worked out on it.

Adding antennae should be really easy to do using the Multimarker tool. Just sculpt an antennae or two separately, mark their positions then use the Multimarker tool to redraw the mantis with the antennae together. Then you can fine tune the placement and scale of each antennae and convert the whole thing to a single polymesh object when you are done.

If you haven’t used this feature before just run the scripted tutorial that comes with the program on Multimarkers and you’ll know everything you need to do what you are asking about in less than 5 minutes.
