    Default New to the game...(sketchbook)

Hello, my name is Haluuzengenix, H-dot for short. Like I said, I've not used Zbrush that long, but I am loving it! I'm enrolled in college right now for illustration, but I'll be changing to visual effects due my love for animation and the awesome that is Zbrush. Never before have I had a medium that can so easily translate my thought and ideas into reality (except the pencil, of course).

I've used Zbrush to do a lil bit of everything, but for the past few weeks I've been on an underwater creature tip, and I don't know why. I guess I've always had this fascination with intelligent life from the deep, since we really don't know anything about 2/3 of our sourroundings. Here's some nearly completeled work.

EDIT: I hate the fact that you're only allowed to post low rez pics, is there any way around this?

Your Creatures are awesome...I Love this program as well. It is the best 3d Editing program i have ever used. Easiest too. I admire all the art cause it all looks awesome.

Some more practice, this time with subtools and multiple materials. Oh, and I've heard about some amazing gravity tool in Zbrush. Where is it?

The Gravity Tool is under Tool > Deformations and you will find a Gravity Slider. Some of the Deformation Sliders don't seem to be working right for me but you can work around the issue by rotating the object generally. I've had problems with them working in one direction but not the other. Like I said a 180 rotation solves that. I don't know if others have that trouble and I'll have to look. The Gravity tool is very helpful with wrinkles, fabric and such. I use alpha's with Deformation tools a great deal as it gives really clean results.

Default Thanks for the tip! Got another question!

Is there any way to add more topology to the chest and back of a model created with zspheres? Or do I have to make a model in another program?

what i like to do is bring the low rez version into maya change the topology to add what i need, and then import it back into zbrush, i find it very intuative.

    Hope that helps

    Default Another question!

If I was going to create a mesh with zspheres, is it possible to have 2 spheres split off from one then rejoin at a later point? Kinda like this: --<>---?

    Default male form wip

I've learning the usefulness of the masking tools with this sculpt. I use 'move' to push and pull the lower poly mesh, then divide. After that, when you have around 400k polys in the mesh, I outline the major muscles with the masking tool, sculpt them out with the 'standard' brush, then I use the 'smooth' and 'flatten' brushes to refine. Its so amazing that I can do all of this in real time with shadows, different materials, colours, with my (admittedly shameful) 448 megs of ram. I love this program!
