Thank you so much for this Nick! As a beginner it's great to see and listen to someone who knows their stuff

But I am still on my journey to understand retopology and what it does! To be the batmobile!

    Default ZBrush/Photoshop Comic book/Illustration Techniques

    Hello there fellow ZArtist,

It is sad to say....but I forgot I even had this thread....well I have something new for us to look at!! Yeah!!! I just finished up making a video that covers how we can uses some awesome comic book ZBrush shaders that were created by the artist Mathieu Bernier (AKA MATEO/M4T30)

Click Here To Download the Shader Pack

In the video we take a look at how we can use these shaders to kick out really quick and cool looking line work from ZBrush, then we harness the power of ZApplink to send our images over to Photoshop quickly. From there I will be showing you how to harness the power of Solid Color Layers in Photoshop. (Really Awesome for quickly making color combinations and color changes.)

We will also be looking at layer masks, layer groups, the gradient tool, how to create thick outlines around your illustration, how to take a gray scale render from ZBrush and turn that into more of an illustrative look that we can convert into interactive color shading.

Best of all the tutorial is free and in HD!

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE TUTORIAL ON MY BLOG!!!

Hope this helps someone out! Peace-NickZ.

excellent post! I just love when great artists show different ways of utilizing Zbrush, which aren't what you typically expect from a 3d app. love the look you achieved here.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you ever come across one of my old postings in regard to a toons shader I did did for Zbrush? Inspired by you I sort of restarted that post with samples of a new version of my shader which you can find here .

what you see in the images is what you see in Zbrush with that shader. The BPR render only adds the shadow. it's pretty much an out of the box one click/render solution which of course can be used for various passes to compose in Photoshop as well.
I'll post the shader in my thread within the next few days. once I posted it,feel free to grab it and maybe take it even further if you like. I'd love to see some more graphic novel style work of other artists here.

I sincerely hope you don't mind me posting this here so shamelessly. if you feel in any way I have high-jacked your thread, then let me know right away and I'll delete it. high-jacking is by no means what I intended this to be.

thanks a lot for your inspiring post!

    J.
